Rouge: The Temptress is the 1st Challenge Act of Seaside Hill Act 2 in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. It is unlocked after clearing every Stage in the Dreamcast era and is played as Modern Sonic.

Description

The Act takes place is a heavily modified version of Seaside Hill Act 2, with additional platforms and enemies that keep barriers activated.

During this Act, there will be Egg Pawns carrying small, circular shields. These shields make all of Sonic's attacks useless because Sonic just bounces off the shields. In order to defeat these Egg Pawns, the player must press / to summon Rouge. Rouge hovers in front of Sonic for a brief amount of time, spraying a line of hearts wherever Sonic turns. Should the hearts touch an enemy, the robot will instantly become love struck, as its eyes will be replaced by hearts and it lowers his shield. Sonic then has a short time to attack the Egg Pawn before it overcome its emotions. After five seconds or so of spraying hearts, Rouge disappears in a puff of smoke.

Overview

The player begins on a platform floating in the water, which is connected to another platform directly ahead. On this next platform will be shield-wielding Egg Pawns blocking Sonic's path. He cannot simply jump over them, however, because they must be defeated by using Rogue to distract them in order to activate the blue barriers ahead which act as floors and/or prevent Sonic from falling into the water below. When one of the Egg Pawns is defeated, a barrier ahead will either appear or deactivate, allowing the player to progress forward.

After getting across the platforms in the water, the player will be taken to a beach section of the Act, where they will soon be placed in 2D. They will need to get past crushing pillars (and more heavily-defended Egg Pawns) before running down a section of land, across a short stretch of water, and onto the beach outside the temple. The player will then be faced with approximately 16 shielded Egg Pawns, which must be destroyed to activate platforms and reach the Goal Ring just ahead.

Trivia

Rouge with two mouths.

• A peculiar animation glitch makes Rouge appear with two mouths on each side of her muzzle.
• This is the only time where Seaside Hill has ever been shown at nighttime in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, to date.
  • However, there was a two-player level in Sonic Heroes where players fought the Egg Hawk at night, which is located in the same area as Seaside Hill.
