Robotnik Winter Zone (ロボトニックウィンター・ゾーン[1] Robotonikku Wintā Zōn?) is the fourth Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. As with other stages in this game, Robotnik Winter Zone consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the Zone's boss.
Description[]
Robotnik Winter Zone is set on an island of "everlasting summer" that has been covered in a nuclear winter due Dr. Robotnik's testing of his ultimate weapon.[1]
Story[]
Following Knuckles' trap from Meta Junglira Zone, Sonic and Tails land in Robotnik Winter Zone. They wonder why Knuckles is against them and continue their pursuit of Dr. Robotnik, but what they don't know is that Knuckles was tricked into thinking they wanted world destruction using the Chaos Emeralds.
As they run through the Zone, Sonic and Tails find Giga Thomas "Pen", and defeat it. After defeating Giga Thomas "Pen", Sonic and Tails (Again) come across Knuckles. the echidna laughs at them and activates a Switch.
As Knuckles laughs off, a snow avalanche happens, washing the echidna, Sonic, and Tails away to Tidal Plant Zone.
Gameplay[]
The snow blankets on the ground in Robotnik Winter Zone makes snowboarding an extremely quick way of blasting through the Acts. Snowdrifts occasionally conceal dark pits in the network of caves that course through the frozen ground. Also, breakable ice walls and powerful updrafts enable Sonic or Tails to proceed back above ground.
Overview[]
Act 1[]
Act 2[]
Act 3[]
Boss[]
The early part of Act 3 requires the player to climb up the slopes of an icy hill, all the while being forced to dodge skating bomb-penguin Badniks descending from the summit. At the top, the player finally finds the source of this stream of robots: Giga Thomas "Pen", a giant, flying penguin head that spits the smaller Badniks at Sonic from the depths of its cavernous maw. Landing 8 hits will cause the boss' thrusters to fail, and he spirals away into the depths of a huge pit.
After the boss, Knuckles shows up again to spring a similar trap as in Great Turquoise Zone, this time, however, he hits Sonic with a snow avalanche.
Chaos Emerald locations[]
The Chaos Emerald monitors in Robotnik Winter Zone can be found in the following locations
- Act 1: Inside the cavern located beneath the snowdrifts in the Jet Board course. Leap across a series of moving platforms, ending on a vertically moving platform with an enemy. Go right to find the Chaos Emerald monitor.
- Act 2: To the left of the collapsing bridge before the first loop. Ride a vertically moving platform up to a tunnel about halfway through the Act. Spin Dash into the tunnel, avoiding the retracting spikes, to reach the Chaos Emerald monitor.
