The Robotnik Control Glove[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is a glove created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik for the main purpose of controlling his technology.[2]

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Robotnik Control Gloves look like black gloves with several buttons on the palm of the hands and a display on the wrists.[2] When Dr. Robotnik wore his flight suit meeting Sonic at San Francisco, he wore different but similar ones to match his suit with a few major differences of lacking fourchettes and the center of the backs being coloured red instead of black, and the control pads having a different design.

When Robotnik received his new attire in the second film his gloves switched back to the way they were when he was introduced in the first film with some minor exceptions of a few of the finger tips being completely silver instead of most of them being black.

Accordingly, the Robotnik Control Glove is an advanced piece of technology that, accordingly, takes a real genius to operate properly, although ordinary people can use it to a limited extend too with proper practice.[1]

The Robotnik Control Gloves allows their wearer to program and control every form of Dr. Ivo Robotnik's technology by pressing the buttons on the glove. They are also equipped with red scanners that can be used to analyze the environment. It also has a holographic projector that can displaying three-dimensional images of the environment using scans obtained from reconnaissance Badniks and is equipped with a taser so hot that it can cut through metal. Dr. Robotnik claims it can also be used to access the Internet.[2] It can also access Robotnik's personal network.[1]

History[]

Film series[]

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Dr. Ivo Robotnik would wear a pair of Robotnik Control Gloves on his trip to Green Hills, Montana, where he used them to summon some Badniks and make them search for Sonic. He would later use one of them to scan one of Sonic’s footprints. Soon after that, he used them to summon another Badnik while threatening Tom.[2]

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

While stuck on the Mushroom Planet, Dr. Ivo Robotnik used his control glove to log his progress on his 243rd day on the planet. After having returned to Earth, Robotnik used his control glove's taser to cut off the handle on the front door to the Wachowski house, allowing him to introduce himself to Sonic. When Sonic later escaped him and Knuckles, Robotnik used his control glove to contact Agent Stone and have him send him new equipment, including a new control glove. With it, Robotnik commanded his Badniks to help Knuckles up front a cliff and then bring out the Egg Mobile for him and Knuckles to head to the Mean Bean Coffee Café in.

Arriving on an island in the Pacific Ocean with Knuckles later on, Robotnik used his control glove's scanner to find a recess for inserting the compass leading to the Master Emerald into. Soon after, inside the Master Emerald's labyrinthine temple, Robotnik used his control glove to deploy a reconnaissance Badnik to scan the labyrinth with, which sent the information it collected back for the control glove to form a holographic map with that Robotnik and Knuckles used to safely navigate the temple. When they reached the Master Emerald's chamber however, Robotnik tried using his control glove's taser to take out Knuckles, only for Sonic to arrive and interrupt him. In the meantime, Stone would use two control gloves to review new outfits for Robotnik on the Mean Bean Coffee Café's computer until Wade interrupted him.

When Robotnik lost the Master Emerald, and thereby his means of operating and powering the Giant Eggman Robot, Robotnik used his control glove to make the Giant Eggman Robot switch over to auxiliary power. When later standing face-to-face with Super Sonic, Robotnik commanded his Giant Eggman Robot to throw punches at Super Sonic with his control glove, only for Super Sonic to overpower the robot. The fate of the glove is unknown.

Comics[]

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: The Official Movie Pre-Quill[]

Agent Stone would eventually hire a gang of criminals to retrieve a spare, left-handed Robotnik Control Glove from a safety deposit box in the first bank of Walla Walla, Washington. After getting it and figuring out how it worked, one of the criminals, Jason, used it to summon some Badniks to steal the bank’s vault with Sonic trapped inside. After observing the Badniks' power however, the criminals decided that they should keep the glove for themselves. The criminals' leader, Lindsey, then took the glove and put it on, only for Sonic to break out of the bank vault. Lindsey than attempted to order one of the drones to attack Sonic, only for Stone to somehow take control of it and make it grab her by the hand and carry her until her hand slipped out of the glove. The drone then delivered the glove to Agent Stone, to which was attached a USB drive containing Robotnik's manifesto.[1][3] Followed Robotnik's instructions, Stone used the control glove to use Badniks to get rid of unfavorable co-workers from Karen's Coffee that he worked on taking over over[3]
