Robotnik's Rot-Your-Life-Away Dungeons is a location that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. It is a large, high-tech prison complex built by Dr. Robotnik. It first appeared in the episode "Sonic Breakout".
The Robotnik's Rot-Your-Life-Away Dungeons was built to contain several hundred prisoners (though it only ever contained two). It was outfitted with an advanced security system controlled by a less-than-thrilled computer which made announcements in a depressed tone. Security lasers were placed in every corridor which activated numerous traps, including trap doors, spiked crushers, security bulkheads and pendulums.
The cartoonist Sketch Lampoon was imprisoned inside the prison after Robotnik read an issue of his Crack Ups comic that made fun of him. While inside, Lampoon was ordered to draw a new issue of Crack Ups dedicated to Robotnik's life story. He didn't stay long as Sonic freed him from his cell and got him out after overloading the complex's security system, which caused the entire complex to self-destruct.
The Sonic Wing
When Robotnik built the Rot-Your-Life-Away Dungeons, he constructed a special wing separate from the main building. This wing was designed specifically to hold Sonic the Hedgehog. The large main dome and the single small cell in its center were built from nuclear-forged steel which could withstand Sonic's triple-spin. In the unlikely event that Sonic broke out of the cell, defensive turrets were put in place: a spear cannon and a beryllium-powered tri-barrelled laser blaster were programmed and ready to fire on anything that matched Sonic's shade of blue; and to finish the job, a large spiked ball on a chain would swing down and smash whatever was left. Despite all these elaborate security measures, Sonic still managed to escape by tricking Scratch and Grounder into opening his cell and sticking a pull-out poster of himself on to Grounder's back. The two Badniks—and Sonic's cell—were demolished by the spears, lasers and spiked ball, and Sonic managed to escape unscathed.
