The Poh-Bee (ポービー Pōbī?)[1] is an enemy that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog CD. They are bee-type Badnik models created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance

Being based on bees, Poh-Bees seem to be upgraded models of Buzz Bombers. The Badnik has two mechanical pale wings on its yellow colored metallic body for giving ability to hover and yellow and black stingers that either has rail detonator cannons or chains of maces attached on them. On its head, Poh-Bees have green eyes with black pupils, red antennas and yellow fangs.

Overview

Pohbee

In Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Poh-Bees come in two types with different attack patterns. The first types are present at Wacky Workbench, where they act similar to Buzz Bombers. They are flying around the Round, while firing their projectiles from their stingers, when they notice the player near by. After the attack, the Badnik keeps hovering forward. In the Bad Future or sometimes in the present timeline of the Rounds, Boh-Bees are found to be decayed, as well hovering slower and being unable to fire projectiles.

The second type of Poh-Bees are later being featured at Metallic Madness, which have long chains of maces with spike balls attached underneath them. They hover back and forth while having shorter and longer maces swinging in different directions. The player can be damaged by touching the spike ball on the mace but can pass through normally the mace itself. In the Bad Future or sometimes in the present timeline of the Round, their appearance is identical, but they hover slower and only have single maces.

Both types of Boh-Bees can be defeated by performing the Spin Jump. Like every Badnik in the game, they are powered by Little Planet flower seeds which will pop out of them after being defeated.
