Ring Cap UP is an installable performance-enhancing component for Extreme Gears. Its actual appearance is unknown, though it is presented as an icon on the head-up display in the top-left corner of the game screen. Its icon is a light blue-colored circle with a black Ring inscribed in it.
Overview[]
In the game, Ring Cap UP is permanently installed into only certain Extreme Gears. When used, Ring Cap UP increases the maximum number of Rings that the player can collect as opposed to the standard 100 Rings. This allows more Rings to be obtained from races, which is useful for purchasing a desired Extreme Gear from the shop more quickly. The number that Ring Cap UP increases Max Rings by can be either 25, 50 or 100, with the number depending on the individual Extreme Gear and/or how many Ring Cap UPs that are already in use.
In gameplay, Ring Cap UP and its ability will be disabled when starting a new race. To activate Ring Cap UP, the player must press one of the following buttons after collecting a certain number of Rings:
PS2
Wii (remote) - sideways
Wii (remote) - forward
Wii (Nintendo GameCube Controller)
Up on
When activating Ring Cap UP, the player's Rings will be reduced accordingly by the number needed to enable it and the Extreme Gear is surrounded by an orange void, indicating the Gear Part's ability is in effect. The following Extreme Gears come equipped with the Ring Cap UP:
