The Ridal Tap[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, orange-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
Ridal Taps are wide-eyed Badniks seemingly based on oranges. They have orange-colored helmets and small turrets on both sides of their helmets, and appear to be stuck to the platforms they're stationed on.
Overview[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, Ridal Taps are encountered in Sunset Park Zone and Meta Junglira Zone. In gameplay, they can be seen using small elevator platform to move back and forth in a linear pattern. Also, in periodic intervals, Ridal Taps will pause their movements before firing projectiles from both their turrets. After destroying a Ridal Tap, the player can ride on their platforms to reach higher paths.
Like other Badniks in the game, Ridal Taps do not have Animals as an energy source that they release upon defeat.
Powers and abilities[]
The Ridal Tap's only weapons are two cannons on their helmets, which can fire energy projectiles. They are also unable to move anywhere else, making these Badniks very vulnerable.
Trivia[]
- The Ridal Tap's name appears to be a portmanteau of the Spidal Tap, a similar Badnik, and "ride".
- Ridal Taps are referenced in Sonic Superstars, where Crabmeats can stand on moving platforms idly in Bridge Island Zone, firing projectiles occasionally.
