The Rhino Metal[1] (リノメタル Rinometaru?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a robot deployed by the Guardian Units of Nations, and a member of the Rhino series.

Appearance

The Rhino Metal resembles a Rhino Jet, but features a thick armor on top of it.

Overview

In Sonic Adventure 2, the Rhino Metal usually patrols a set area, but will rev up and ram the player should they approach. It delivers powerful attacks, but is quite easy to sidestep, causing it to miss the player and potentially fall off a ledge. Upon its destruction, it awards the player 100 points. The only ways to destroy them are to use Sonic's Magic Hands ability, or by touching them while the playable character is invincible.

The Rhino Metal can be found in the following stages:

Character Stage
Normal mode Hard mode
Sonic N/A Green Forest
Shadow Sky Rail White Jungle
Sky Rail

Trivia

  • The Rhino Metals seem to be bound by obstacles, as in Sky Rail a Rhino Metal cannot cross a fire line created by the fire skulls.
    • This may be an oversight by the developers though, as it remains in its ramming animation even while blocked.
