Template:Item The Reserve Tank (リザーブタンク Rizābutanku?) is a Bike type Extreme Gear that appears in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity and Sonic Free Riders. It cannot accumulate fuel for special actions, but instead carries three additional storage tanks to replenish itself when it is about to run out of fuel.
Game Appearances
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
|
Description
The Reserve Tank made its first appearance in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. It can be purchased in the shop for 3,960 Rings.
In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Reserve Tank resembles more or less a standard motorcycle. It carries little covering for its structure, and most of it is colored grey and white. Most noticeably, however, it has three white GP storage tanks with yellow stripes mounted on its rear, which is used to storage extra GP.
Abilities and Traits
As a Bike type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Reserve Tank is more powerful, but less maneuverable than most other types of Extreme Gears, and allows its rider to crash through obstacles and barricades without slowing down.
Unlike most other Extreme Gears in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Reserve Tank cannot accumulate GP by any means, be it either by performing tricks, smashing through obstacles, accessing 'Wall-Routes' or performing Meteor Burst during a Gravity Dive (It can still obtain GP from Item Boxes, though.). Instead, the Reserve Tank carries three identical, exclusive Gear Parts called "Tank" that, when activating one of them, will automatically refill the Reserve Tank's GP gauge completely once. This allows the players to refill the Reserve Tank's GP gauge up to three times during a race. Every time one of the Reserve Tank's Gear Parts is activated, one of the GP storage tanks on the back of the Reserve Tank falls off, signifying that one of the tanks have been used.

Sonic Free Riders
|
Description
The Reserve Tank reappeared later in Sonic Free Riders. Because the Extreme Gears run on Air in this game, the Reserve Tank's storage tanks had been rebuilt to contain Air rather than GP. It can be purchased from the shop for 250 Rings.
In Sonic Free Riders, the Reserve Tank retains much of the same design that Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. However, in this game, it receives pale amethyst colored plates across its structure, making it resemble more of a sport bike, while its storage tanks on its rear are recolored green.
Abilities and Traits
As a Bike type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders, the Reserve Tank is, like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, more powerful, but less maneuverable than most other types of Extreme Gears, and allows its rider to punch through obstacles and barricades.
Much like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Reserve Tank is unable to accumulate Air, be it either by performing tricks, smashing through obstacles, or obtaining Air from Item Boxes, and instead relies on refilling its Air tank through the three additional Air storage tanks that it carries around, allowing it to completely restore its Air tank up to three times during a race. However, in this game, whenever the Reserve Tank runs out of Air, it automatically uses one of its extra Air storage tanks to refill itself (which is signified by one of the tanks falling off), rather than the players do it manually, until it runs out of storage tanks. It can only be equipped with one Gear Part, as the first slot is permanently set to Power.

Trivia
- While racing with this Gear in Free Race mode of any of the later two Sonic Riders games, it is advisable for the player not to race through a course with a large number of laps; otherwise it is likely that the player using three whole Tanks of Air (Sonic Free Riders) or GP (Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity to make multiple kick dashes/Gravity Dive is not enough for a long race if the player constantly uses the fuel in such areas.
