Appearance[]

Redd's full profile.

Redd is a tall anthropomorphic heron, exceeding Dr. Eggman in height by a few inches. Rather slim in appearance, he has a long neck, long arms, and long legs. However, he has broad shoulders by comparison. He also has a red plumage with a white underbelly, a long beak with a black upper half and white lower half, brown eyes, white tail feathers, and black stripes across the top of his eyes. On his head he has a combed back crest that is black on the back, and on his chest he has a few feathers sticking out. For attire, he wears round glasses, a red bowtie on the middle of his neck, a black jacket, white gloves, and black and white dress shoes.

History[]

Past[]

Working as an insurance adjuster, Redd's line of work would take him to many hotels.[2]

Redd eventually made reservations at Eggman Towers to relax after a chaotic week. There, he was given the hotel's best treatment by Dr. Eggman, who thought Redd was the secret hotel reviewer from Secret Review Magazine. That changed when Redd revealed that he was no reviewer. Redd and the guests were soon after taken hostage by Eggman for an evil scheme. However, Team Sonic ensured that Redd was freed from Eggman's captivity, with Eggman Towers getting blown up around them in the process. Redd then gave Eggman the insurance to rebuild his hotel and pay his fees as thanks for the doctor's initial treatment of him.[2]

When Redd moved to Hedgehog Village, Eggman helped him get his stuff into his new house. Amidst this, Redd agreed to add Eggman on FriendSpace. When Redd revealed that he would not be able to do it for the next few weeks however, Eggman left him to finish his move-in on his own.[3]

Personality[]

Redd is upstanding, well-mannered, and very formal in behavior. He is also very particular about his accommodations. Despite not being a reviewer, he can be rather critical. Regardless, he has proven himself to be a very grateful and generous person: even after Dr. Eggman tried to hold him hostage, Redd provided Eggman with an enormous insurance settlement to repair his lair and pay his fees as thanks for the kindness the doctor showed him before he took him hostage.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Redd Heron's name is a play on the words "red herring", which refer to something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important issue. This is a reference to Redd's role in "Inn Sanity" where Dr. Eggman mistakenly believes him to be a secret hotel reviewer.
