The Red Material is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a type of Material which is used for construction.

Description[]

Red Material (Sonic Rush Adventure sprite)

In Sonic Rush Adventure, Red Material resembles red crystal clusters sprouting from a disk-shaped lump of grey rock. In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, they are red lumps in the form of an orb-shaped crater with a yellow glow within its core, much like lava. Despite the substance's apparent consistency, it is very versatile in building a number of devices.

In gameplay, the Red Materials are used in conjunction with other Materials to build and/or upgrade various machines, such as vessels or RC Vehicles.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Rush Adventure[]

Red Material v2

In Sonic Rush Adventure, the player can earn Red Materials by clearing the following stages' Acts and/or bosses:

The Rank the player gets from clearing Coral Cave's levels determines the amount of Red Material earned. The Hidden Islands are exceptions as they always give two Red Materials regardless of Rank:

Rank No. of Materials earned
S Rank (Sonic Rush Adventure) 4 Materials
A Rank (Sonic Rush Adventure) 3 Materials
B Rank (Sonic Rush Adventure) 2 Materials
C Rank (Sonic Rush Adventure) 1 Material

Sonic Lost World[]

In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, the player can earn Red Materials by clearing Lava Mountain's Zones. The Rank the player gets from clearing the Zones determines the amount of Red Materials earned:

Rank No. of Materials earned
S Rank (Mini) (Sonic Lost World Wii U) 15 Materials
A Rank (Mini) (Sonic Lost World Wii U) 10 Materials
B Rank (Mini) (Sonic Lost World Wii U) 7 Materials
C Rank (Mini) (Sonic Lost World Wii U) 5 Materials
D Rank (Mini) (Sonic Lost World Wii U) 3 Materials

As an alternative to collecting Red Materials, the player can combine other Materials in Tails' Lab to create Red Materials. To create one Red Material, the player needs at least three Black Materials.
