The railway theme is a stage theme that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Most railway-themed stages usually consist of rail tracks which are used for vehicles such as minecarts, locomotives and other rail-based vehicles. At times the minecarts are ridable or the trains themselves serve as an obstacle or hazard. Sometimes the tracks of the rails also serve as Grind Rails.
While often complimented with industrial-themed stages, railway-themed stages often depict train stations as decoration and can be found in other themed stages, such as urbans or canyons.
