Radical Highway

Radical Highway (ラジカルハイウェイ Rajikaru Haiwei?) is the sixth and final stage in Shadow Generations. It is based on the location of the same name from Sonic Adventure 2.

Description[]

Instead of being a location from the past or the future, it is a space inside Black Moon. As Shadow progresses through the stage, he will find the area being transformed into non-Euclidean insanity.

Story[]

After losing the Fake Emerald to Sonic and defeating Mephiles the Dark, Shadow obtains the last Doom power, the Doom Wing, that makes Black Doom powerful enough to open the Black Moon and change the White Space, he then challenges Shadow to go after him. Shadow lets go of his anger and enters the Black Moon.

Shadow goes through the Doom Zone one last time, which has been taking the form of Radical Highway. He uses his powers and the Chaos Emerald to fight and finally defeat Neo Devil Doom, destroying both him and the Black Moon, therefore, losing the Doom Powers himself.

Shadow gives his Chaos Emerald to Rouge so she can swap it for the fake one Sonic has. Without Black Doom's influence, Gerald and Maria start disappearing, going back to their times, Shadow gets anxious, but they say goodbye to him, assuring him they will meet again.

Shadow gets out of there, dropping a tear that lands on Rouge's cheek.

Gameplay[]

As the stage is inside the Black Moon, the Doom Zone effect is applied throughout the whole stage. Chaos Control cannot be used.

Trivia[]

  • Radical Highway is the only stage in Shadow Generations:
    • That does not have its own gate. Instead, the player accesses it via the Black Moon.
    • That does not feature any Challenge Acts.
    • To have its Act 2 in 3D instead of 2D.
    • That does not allow the player to use Chaos Control at any point in either of its acts.
    • That is not played in the order of its debut game's release, as it is the final stage in the game, despite debuting with Space Colony ARK (the first stage of the game) in Sonic Adventure 2.
  • This is the two levels in the game that have a different time of day for both acts, with Act 1 taking place at night and Act 2 taking place in a rainstorm, the other being Sunset Heights.
  • Though not appearing in Sonic Generations proper, Radical Highway is nevertheless the third stage to appear in both versions of Generations, after Green Hill Zone and Casino Night Zone.
  • This is the second and last stage Doom Wing is canonically used, the first being Space Colony ARK.
