Appearance[]

Rachel is an adult human woman of African-American descent with a slightly hefty build. She possesses brown skin, brown eyes, and less than medium-long black hair that is curled and fuzzy. She wears a wide range of clothing.

History[]

Film series[]

Past[]

In the past, Rachel's sister Maddie married Tom Wachowski in spite of Rachel's claims that Tom was no good. Continuing to disapprove of their relationship after that, Rachel would constantly nag Maddie about divorcing Tom. As for Rachel, she would raise her only daughter, Jojo, as a single mother after she got divorced from her husband for reasons unknown.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Eventually, Rachel would house Maddie when she and Ozzy came to stay with her and Jojo while Maddie scoped out a new apartment for her and Tom in San Francisco. During their stay, Rachel would casually overhear Maddie talk with Tom over the phone and use the opportunity to suggest divorce when Maddie and Tom had a disagreement.

Soon after, Rachel found out that Tom was wanted by the government for domestic terrorism. When Tom later showed up at her house, Rachel refused to let him in, which led to an argument with Maddie. However, Ozzy soon revealed that Tom was carrying an unconscious and alien anthropomorphic hedgehog named Sonic. Upon seeing Sonic, Rachel immediately fainted. Afterward, she got tied up in a chair so that she could not call the authorities. Despite her pleas and complaints, she could not convince Jojo to untie her, and Tom and Maddie soon took her car so they could get to the Transamerica Pyramid with Sonic. However, Rachel was soon forgotten by the trio, leaving her stuck in her home with Jojo imitating Sonic's behavior as she quietly requested Jojo to put her Fitbit band on.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

Having met and got engaged to a man named Randall, Rachel was to have her wedding ceremony with him on Hawaii. With Tom and Maddie coming to Hawaii as to attend her wedding, Rachel got Randall to play a joke on Tom while she and Maddie hung out. Afterwards, Rachel came to Tom and agreed with him that they should bury the hatchet between them. As they hugged it out however, Rachel threatened him not to screw up her wedding.

At her wedding ceremony, Rachel received a loving token of Randall's love when a bi-plane flew by with a banner paying tribute to them. As the time came for their wedding vows however, Tom's phone would keep ringing, made Rachel increasingly frustrated, until he left. Just as Rachel was about to get her wedding ring however, Tom came and forcefully took the ring from Randall, which turned out to be one of Sonic's Rings when Tom turned it into a portal in front of them. Immediately after, Sonic came through the Ring with Tails and an avalanche. After Rachel recovered from the snow blanket however, it was revealed when Sonic got tasered that her wedding had been fabricated by agents from G.U.N. as a part of Operation: Catfish, a military operation meant to capture Sonic, with Randall's guests, the priest, and even Randall himself being G.U.N. agents. After Commander Walters then made his entrance, Rachel demanded an explanation, prompting Walters to explain the origins and purpose of G.U.N. As G.U.N. agents proceeded to take Sonic, Tails, and Tom away to a hotel, Rachel and Maddie decided to take matters into their own hands by freeing them. Using the gadgets from Tails' backpack that Jojo brought them, they snuck into the premise of the hotel where they sent one G.U.N. agent flying away with one of Tails' gadgets. Soon after, they split up, with Rachel going after Randall and deal him serious retribution. Before she could depart however, Rachel saved Maddie from some G.U.N. agents by knocking the latter out with another one of Tails' gadgets.

Boarding a golf kart, Rachel went after Randall and Walters, nearly running them over when she found them. As Rachel reprimanded Randall for his deceit though, Walters held her at gunpoint with a taser, prompting Rachel to aim at him with Tails' laser pistol. When Walters fired at her however, Randall took the shock for Rachel, who in turn made Walters surrender after demonstrating a firepower from Tails' laser pistol by destroying a nearby cake. Afterwards, she asked Randall if their love was ever real. In return, Randall told Rachel that he truly loved her, which made Rachel reconcile with him as they kissed.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]

Rachel doesn't appear in the third film. However, Maddie disguises herself as Rachel when she and Tom use hologram devices to sneak into G.U.N. Headquarters. She and Randall were mentioned as husband and wife by Tom and Maddie, meaning that they made up and got married as well that she joined G.U.N at some point too.

Personality[]

Rachel is a straightforward, no-nonsense woman. She dislikes being lied to and prefers it when situations are handled in a legal way, as shown when she threatened to call the police on Tom when he did not explain why he was wanted by the government. She also dislikes Tom and is always bothering Maddie to divorce him. Regardless, she was willing to help her free him from G.U.N. so that she could confront Randall.

Rachel possesses an intimidating and quite explosive personality. Known to have a big temper, she will loudly protest her dislikes, like when Tom and Maddie took her car. When pushed over the edge, Rachel is notably impulsive and exceptionally loud, as well as unafraid to take matters into her own hands, even during her times of extreme emotional vulnerability and sadness. She is likewise very threatening and not afraid to resort to violence when seething with anger, showing no hesitation to run over Randall following Operation: Catfish and confronting him about his deception. For all her temper problems though, she is not unreasonable when angry, as her emotional vulnerability can make her lower her guard and make her willing to listen to explanations and even forgive others for upsetting her.

Relationships[]

Jojo[]

Jojo is Rachel's daughter. In addition to including her in much of her life, Rachel spends a lot of time with Jojo. She also never yells at her in spite of her temper, even when she willingly ignores her. She also always addresses her in a gentle and composed tone.

Maddie Wachowski[]

Maddie Wachowski is Rachel's younger sister. While Rachel is close to her, to the point that they have their her own parting gesture and is willing to house her and include her in her life, she does not approve of her marriage to Tom, having deemed him unworthy of her. As such, she constantly tries encouraging her to divorce him. However, Maddie always ignores her attempts, opting not to engage in such conversations. When that does not work though, they tend to argue a lot. Even though they do not agree with each other about many issues though, they are able to join forces and work as a well-oiled team to achieve their goals, like when they worked together to get through several G.U.N. agents.

Tom Wachowski[]

Ya know, you're alright, Thomas Wachowski. Can we bury the hatchet?

— Rachel, from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (film)

Having been noted by Randall to not care for Tom Wachowski at all, Rachel dislikes Tom immensely, having declared him no good and unworthy of her sister Maddie's love. As such, she works towards getting Maddie to divorce him, and is willing to talk about him behind his back. Notably, when Tom was wanted for domestic terrorism, Rachel would refuse to house him and not even give him a moment to explain himself, showing an utter lack of trust in him.

During her engagement with Randall, Rachel showed a more accepting side of Tom, although it was still laced with contempt; while she would offer to bury the hatchet between them when he came to her wedding, she would also give him the warning not to screw up her wedding or she would end him as she ended up annoyed when Sonic tried to call Tom on his phone interrupting her wedding a few times. Nevertheless, she was still willing to free him from G.U.N so that she could confront Randall.

Randall Handel[]

Randall, wifey's home!

— Rachel, from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (film)

Randall Handel is Rachel's current love interest. Having fallen genuinely in love with Randall, she would appreciate him for both his handsomely good looks and personality, to the extend that she would agree to marry him. However, after learning that her wedding was a set up by G.U.N. and that Randall was to marry her as a part of Operation: Catfish, Rachel slipped in an unparalleled fit of anger and sadness that made her doubt everyone around her, including Jojo. Feeling deceived and betrayed by Randall, Rachel sought to enact terrible retribution upon him using the worst kind of physical violence she could think of. At the same time though, his deceit also left her emotionally vulnerable and confused, which prompted Rachel to ask him directly if their love was ever real before attempting to seriously hurt him. In the end though, she forgave Randall after he admitted that he truly loved her.

By the events of the third film, they became husband and wife.

Trivia[]

  • If not counting Maddie's disguise, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the only film where Rachel doesn't appear.
  • In the third film, it's possible that Rachel joined G.U.N. sometime after the events of the second film, likely to spend time with her husband. When Maddie disguised herself as Rachel, no one suspected her walking in the base with Tom disguised as Randall.
  • In a deleted scene, it's shown that the tow truck returned to her house, and she calls the police to try to get Tom. She ends up getting Wade on the other end of the call instead. After Wade flirts with Rachel a little bit, Rachel then sets up a date for Wade to "come find her", and hangs up the phone.
    • In the same scene, Rachel reveals that she's divorced.
