The Quartz Quadrant boss is a single person, large booth located in a room in Quartz Quadrant, which has a conveyor belt on the floor, a set of spikes in the left area of the room, and a bomb-thrower on the roof. The booth's color depends on the timeline; in the bad future, it is turquoise-colored, while it is purple in the good future.
Features and abilities
The Quartz Quadrant boss' booth is very resistant against Sonic's attacks, as his Spin Attack and Spin Jump cannot damage it. The booth also has two levers, which can be used to move a bomb-thrower on the roof.
Sonic the Hedgehog CD
In Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Dr. Robotnik used the Quartz Quadrant boss for an attempt to destroy Sonic the Hedgehog in Quartz Quadrant. However, the machine ended up destroying itself after going up against Sonic for too long.
The Quartz Quadrant boss is the boss of Quartz Quadrant in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, and the fourth boss overall. While in the original version it is only faced by Sonic, the 2011 re-release makes it possible to face it with Tails.
A conveyor belt will activate while spikes lower from the left side of the screen to block the entrance. The only solution is to hit the booth to make it drop to the ground, then run along the conveyor belt. While this happens, the doctor moves a crane and drops small mines, which detonate into four small mines that do not travel very far at all. The booth that contains Robotnik, however, will lower against the conveyor belt and begin to wear away at the bottom the more Sonic runs along the belt; sections of the booth's base will wear away and cause the machine to lower further. Eventually, the doctor will panic about the lack of ground left to stand on without being dropped into a spiky doom, so he will run away, the machine will explode, and the player is granted access to the end of the Zone.
