The Guggets are a species that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. They are a group of wooden puppets given artificial intelligence by means of a chip implanted in their wood grain.
Description
Anatomy
Being puppets, Guggets are made of materials such as wood and steel, and can differ in appearance because of their artificial nature. However, they all more or less resemble humans. Most of them have square, yellow faces with white bodies, but their leader has a more humanoid face and dons a colorful shirt with a skull pattern.[1]
Characteristics and culture
The majority of Guggets speak perfectly normal, but look quite plain to compensate. Their leader has a severe speech problem, replacing all his "p"s and "b"s with "g"s, due to his rather basic tongue. They are also malevolent by nature.[1]
Powers and abilities
As living puppets, they posses artificial intelligence that normal puppets would otherwise not have.[1]
History
The Guggets were being transported to a prison planet on the prison ship Astratraz for crimes they'd committed, when they revolted and took over the ship. Amy Rose and Tekno the Canary were on their travels through the Eternity Ring and stopped by to help. Amy began to punch the heads off their attackers but were overpowered and thrown in a cell. Tekno feigned betrayal and decided to help them find a new planet to invade. Unknown to them, Tekno had read a star chart and located Planet Terminus, a planet infested with giant termites. As soon as the Guggets embarked on their invasion, every last one of them was eaten by the natives.[1]
