The Psychic Surprise is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Projectile Item used primarily to attack rivals.
Description[]
The Psychic Surprise's icon takes the form of a green iron ball with gray spikes and a red bow wrapped around it. In gameplay, this power-up remains much the same, but with a green glow enveloping it.
Overview[]
In gameplay, the Psychic Surprise can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Nutcracker Silver. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Psychic Surprise if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Psychic Surprise by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Psychic Surprise will drop its special Iron ball some distance directly ahead of the user. This iron ball will then remain in front of the user, moving along with them whenever they switch lanes, for a few moments before being send flying down the lane it was launched from. Should the iron ball touch a permanent obstacle on the tracks, either when kept suspended in front of the user or when sent flying down a lane, it will explode. If a rival character collides with said iron ball on the other hand, they will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. To avoid the Psychic Surprise, the playable character has stay away from its iron ball by either staying out of its lane or jumping over it when it gets close.
The Psychic Surprise can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6 and 12 respectively. For each upgrade, the damage dealt with the Psychic Surprise will be increased.
