The Psychic Surge is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Psychic Surge's icon takes the form of a cyan ring with a smaller cyan ring on the inside of it. A cyan aura radiates from the rings, with bright yellow star-like sparkles floating above it. In gameplay, Sir Galahad expands a circular seal made of two decorated rings (one large and one smaller) of pure psychokinetic energy.

In gameplay, the Psychic Surge can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Sir Galahad .
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Psychic Surge by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Psychic Surge will increase the speed of the user for a short amount of time. The duration of the Psychic Surge is shown by the decreasing gauge on top of this power-up's icon on the bottom of the HUD whenever the Psychic Surge is in effect. In addition, any rival character who approaches the user from adjacent lanes while the Psychic Surge is in effect will be damaged, slowed down momentarily and also lose Rings . If the player succeeds in hitting an opponent with this move, they will gain Rings.
The Psychic Surge can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 2, 8, 14 and 20 respectively. For each upgrade, the Psychic Surge will increase in speed.
