Professor Von Schlemmer is a character in the Sonic the Hedgehog and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is a humanoid scientist native to Silver the Hedgehog's time period and a member of the Science Center who has been researching the Genesis Portals.

History

The Silver Age

Professor Von Schlemmer discovered the existence of the Genesis Portals, which were created by the same energies that brought about the Shattered World Crisis in the present of Sonic's World. Fearing what might happen if these portals were put to use improperly, he sought out Silver the Hedgehog to travel through time and space and close them using his unique psychic powers. Unfortunately, he initially sought to force Silver to help him by bringing him to the Science Center.

Personality

Von Schlemmer is a brilliant scientist with a strong moral sense, as indicated by his insistence upon Silver closing the Genesis Portals. Unfortunately, his regard for the fate of the universe at one point convinced him that it was worth press-ganging Silver into service despite the Hedgehog's fears. He also speaks with a slight German accent, such as saying "vun" instead of one.

Trivia

• Prof. Von Schlemmer is based on the reoccurring character in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. In the show, he was more goofy in both appearance and personality. He was also a resident of Sonic's time rather than living in the future.
• Despite appearing human, the professor's skin color is an unusual shade of turquoise. It is unknown what the cause of this is, although the presence of small rivets above his eyebrows and below his ears seems to suggest he might be at least partially mechanical.
