The Prison Egg,[1] also referred to as the Egg Prison,[2] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a type of storage cage used by the Eggman Empire to hold prisoners.

History[]

Worlds Collide[]

A Prison Egg was used to detain Dr. Light onboard the Wily Egg after he was captured by Dr. Eggman and Dr. Albert Wily, until he was moved to another cell. Unbeknownst to Dr. Light, Snively was held captive in a Prison Egg next to him as well.[3][4]

Shattered World Crisis[]

Note: From the readers point of view, this picks up from where the Prison Egg's original timeline ended.
Prison Egg trap

During the Shattered World Crisis, a special Prison Egg-trap-rocket designed by Dr. Eggman was used as decoy container for a soon-to-be-transported Chaos Emerald as a part of a trap of for the Freedom Fighters. When the Freedom Fighters tried taking the Emerald, the Prison Egg defended itself while the heroes got attacked by E-100 units. However, the heroes still escaped.[5][6] The decoy Prison Egg then tried delivering the Chaos Emerald to the Death Egg, but went off-course and crashed in the Thunder Plains Zone where the Northamer Egg Army recovered the Emerald from it.[1][2]

During his takeover of the Lost Hex, Eggman brought several Prison Eggs to the planetoid. When Sigma took control of the Lost Hex, he used the Prison Eggs to hold Eggman and Dr. Wily.[7][8][9] The Prison Eggs' presence on the Lost Hex would later be erased when Xander Payne rewrote history.[10]
