The Potential (ポテンシャル, Potensharu^?) is a Board type Extreme Gear that appears in Sonic Free Riders. It possesses well-above average stats, but slow Air accumulation.

Description[]

The Potential debuts in Sonic Free Riders. According to its profile, the Potential holds a mysterious power that can draw out its rider's hidden abilities, raising all of his/her basic strengths. It can be purchased from the shop for 350 Rings.

The Potential has a very typical board-like shape, though with two rims around the midsection and an inward-turned curve in front. The Potential also appears fairly slim in comparison to the rest of the Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders. It is mostly colored black with green highlights running along the center, and has two silver circular pads on the top surface.

Abilities and traits[]

As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders, the Potential is well-balanced in its attributes and is suited for general riding.

The Potential possesses very much the same qualities as the Skill Booster from Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. It has fairly high and balanced stats, securing top notch-basic handling capabilities. However, its drawback is that any Air earned from grinding, air-riding through mid-air, smashing obstacles or performing tricks is reduced by 30%. It can be equipped with two Gear Parts.

Sonic Speed Simulator[]

In Sonic Speed Simulator, the Potential appears as an unlockable Extreme Gear earned the "Jet's Bets" event by accumulating a total of ten minutes airborne while on an Extreme Gear. Later on it was made available during the "Tuxedo Sonic Event" for collecting 50 Sky Rings. Alternatively, it could also be purchased for Robux. Once unlocked, the Potential can be used by any character, and essentially functions similarly to all other Extreme Gears in the game. The Potential also has an in-game rarity of "Legendary".

Trivia[]

The colors of the Potential may have been based off the ones of a black Xbox 360 console.
