The PlayStation 5 (abbreviated as the PS5) is the fifth console in the PlayStation series developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The console also has backward compatibility with its predecessor, the PlayStation 4. It belongs to the ninth generation of gaming consoles and is a competitor to the Xbox Series X and Series S and Nintendo Switch.
