Pierrot[1] (ピーエロ[2] Pīero?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, clown-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
The Pierrots are built in the image of clowns. As such, they possess round white heads with thick red lips, cartoonish black with yellow sclera, pink cheeks, and a pointy orange hat with a ball on top. They also have skinny and mechanical-looking gray and yellow torsos and gloved, flour-fingered white hands. Lastly, their entire torsos balance delicately on top of large orange and cyan balls.
Game appearances[]
Sonic Advance[]
In Sonic Advance, the Pierrots appear as enemies. They can only be encountered in Casino Paradise Zone.
In gameplay, Pierrots roll around back and forth on their balls while juggling smaller balls. The player can only harm the Pierrots by hitting them on top with a Spin Jump. If the player attacks their ball, the playable character will ricochet off it without inflicting damage. Upon their destruction, they will release an Animal.
Other game appearances[]
Sonic Pinball Party[]
In Sonic Pinball Party, the Pierrots appear as obstacles and are found on certain pinball tables.
Powers and abilities[]
The Pierrots are excellent jugglers and have perfect balance. Also, the balls that are incorporated into their designs can repel physical strikes.

IDW Publishing[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, when Metal Sonic used his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack to damage Sonic, Tails, and Belle's stolen escape aircraft, a Pierrot was among the group of Badniks tossed aside by the crashing ship.[3]
Sometime later, the Pierrots were among the many Badniks that attended Orbot and Cubot's Winter Jam reality show.[4]
