The Perfect Shield[1] (ジャストシールド[2] Jasuto Shīrudo?, lit. "Just Shield"), also formatted perfect shield,[1] and known as the Parry or Power Shield,[3] is a mechanic that appears in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Debuting in Super Smash Bros. Melee, it is a move that allows the user to parry an upcoming enemy attack. Since Super Smash Bros. Brawl and onwards, it is one of the moves used by Sonic the Hedgehog.

Description[]

When a fighter releases their shield after a enemy attacks at the perfect time, the fighter will "Parry" the move and be able to perform an attack at the enemy fighter.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, if successfully done the perfect shield, a blue and white dramatic effect will appear. Additionally, it causes the fighter's eyes to be temporarily yellow for a few milliseconds. It can be performed by holding //L or // to shield. Once an enemy attack closely comes in contact with the shield, the player must release the button at the right time.

Trivia[]
