The Peacock[2] (クジャク[3][4] Kujaku?), also known as the Partridge,[1] is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a race of peacock Animals used for raising Chao.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut[]

SADXPeacock

A Peacock, from Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.

The Peacock made its debut in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. In gameplay, Peacocks can alter the stats, appearance and personality of a Chao. These animals are found inside Badniks. Simply destroy the Badnik to release the Peacock inside, and then touch it to pick it up. When released, the Peacocks have a green sphere around them, which disappears shortly afterwards. They are found in the following Action Stages:

Upon entering a Chao Garden with a Peacock, it will leave the playable character and run around the garden. The Peacock will sparkle if it has not given them to a Chao in the garden. Should the player give a Peacock to a Chao, the Chao will embrace it, attaining its appearance and behavior and raising its stats according to the Peacock's. The Peacock will then lose its sparkle and disappear shortly after.

Sonic Adventure 2/Sonic Adventure 2: Battle[]

In Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, the Peacocks appear again as Animals used for raising Chao. The way the player acquires the Peacocks, releases them into the Chao Garden, and uses them to alter Chao, is the same as in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. The Peacocks similarly disappear after being used and possess a temporary green sphere around them when released from robots. However, they do not sparkle in Chao Gardens like in the previous title.

In gameplay, the Peacocks are either found inside Badnik enemies or the second Chao Container opened in an Action Stage, or hiding somewhere in the Action Stages, usually inside Cages or Pipes. They are found in the following Action Stages:

Wild Canyon
