The Pacific Ocean is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is the largest and deepest of the Earth's oceanic divisions.
Description[]
The Pacific Ocean is a vast expanse of ocean on Earth covering roughly one-third of the planet's surface. While empty of continents, it houses a number of smaller islands and archipelagos, such as Hawaii. Notably, it houses a miniscule island with a mystical mechanism from the owls hidden on its beach where the compass from Siberia that leads to the Master Emerald can be inserted into. This will in turn split the sea in front of the island apart in order to unveil the Labyrinth, a multi-level temple hidden under the sea that was built to house the Master Emerald.
History[]
Film series[]
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
When Tom Wachowski tried to ditch Sonic and have him go to San Francisco to retrieve his lost Rings alone, Sonic attempted the trip, only to get lost and crash into the Pacific Ocean along the way, prompting him to return to Tom for aid.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]
With Rachel and her fiancé Randall set to be wed in Hawaii, Tom and Maddie travelled to Hawaii in order to attend the event. While there, Tom befriended Randall and buried the hatchet between him and Rachel. Later, after Tom had a volleyball with Randall's squad, Jojo showed him that she had been selected to be the ring bearer. There, Tom played a prank by briefly snatching Rachel's wedding ring. Afterwards, Maddie would tell Tom to relax when he began worrying about Sonic.
As Rachel and Randall's wedding went underway, Tom would answer a call from Sonic, who needed him to open a Ring portal in his location so he could escape an avalanche. When Tom noticed that he had gotten Rachel's wedding ring mixed up with Sonic's Ring however, he retrieved the Ring by force and opened it, leaving it for Sonic to make it through the portal with an unconscious Tails. After Sonic explained that Dr. Robotnik was back and looking for the Master Emerald however, he and Tails got captured by G.U.N. agents. Commander Walters proceeded to explain the situation to the guests and revealed Randall to be a G.U.N. agent as well, infuriating Rachel as she learned that her wedding was a set-up for Operation: Catfish. Afterwards, Sonic, Tails, and Tom were escorted to holding area. Maddie tried warning Walters of Robotnik's return and that they needed Sonic to stop him, but Walters chose to have G.U.N. handle this. Maddie and Rachel, however, decided to resolve this situation themselves, with Maddie freeing Sonic, Tails and Tom, while Rachel got Walters to surrender while reconciling with Randall. In the meantime, Robotnik and Knuckles arrived on an island in the Pacific Ocean, having been guided there by the compass that led to the Master Emerald. Placing the compass into a recess on the island, they made the Labyrinth rise up from the ocean, which made it release a green pillar of light into the sky that formed black clouds of green energy. Noticing this phenomenon from Hawaii, Sonic left to resolve this problem alone, running hundreds of miles across the Pacific Ocean in order to reach the Labyrinth. Meanwhile, Tails woke up, but was too weak to follow. As Tails told them of the threat Sonic was up against, Tom and Maddie got a restrained Walters to listen to them.
Despite encountering major trouble navigating the rough waters in the Pacific Ocean, Sonic miraculously got washed up on the island next to the Labyrinth. Inside the Labyrinth, Robotnik and Knuckles would navigate the temple and avoid its traps until they reached the chamber of the Master Emerald. Using his super speed however, Sonic caught up to Robotnik and Knuckles, and fought the latter to keep the Master Emerald safe. However, Robotnik would betray Knuckles by stealing the Master Emerald while he was occupied, causing Robotnik to teleport away in a flash that devastated the Labyrinth. Despite this, Sonic managed to save Knuckles from death, who in turn rescued Sonic from a similar faith. Getting back to the island, just before Tails found them in the Tornado, Sonic convinced Knuckles to form a truce with him so they could stop Robotnik.
