Orange Wisps are very sensitive, emotional Wisps. They are easily elated when praised, but they can also get depressed if they’ve made a mistake. Be careful not to upset them, they can get angry very easily. Luckily, Sonic reaps the benefits of their powerful emotions when they transform him into an Orange Rocket. — Description of the Orange Wisp, Sonic Colors
Orange Wisp ( is a creature that appears in the オレンジウィスプ Orenji U~isupu ) ? . It is a type of Sonic the Hedgehog series Wisp that grants the Orange Rocket Color Power.
The Orange Wisps have rocket-shaped bodies, with two green eyes lined up vertically, similar to
Refreshinator. Instead of tentacles like most other Wisps, they instead have three sphere-like structures on their bottom.
The Orange Wisps made their first appearance on both versions of
Sonic Colors. When their homeworld was moved to Earth by Dr. Eggman in order to create his interstellar amusement park, the Orange Wisps and the rest of their race were threatened to be enslaved by Eggman, who wanted their Hyper-go-on to control the mind of everyone on Earth using a weapon. Fortunately, the Orange Wisps and the rest of their race were all freed thanks to Sonic the Hedgehog. After Dr. Eggman's Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park imploded into a black hole, the Orange Wisps worked together with the rest of their race to stop the black hole and succeeded, before returning their homeworlds to their original places in the universe.
In gameplay on both the
Wii and Nintendo DS version of the game, the Orange Wisps appear as Wisp Capsule power-ups that enable the Orange Rocket. On the Wii version of the game, the player encounters the Orange Wisps in Sweet Mountain, Planet Wisp, Aquarium Park and Asteroid Coaster. In the Nintendo DS version of the game, the player encounters the Orange Wisps in Starlight Carnival and Planet Wisp.
In the console/

Here, an Orange Wisp is one of the Wisps that the four participating characters free from a Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Wisp Capsule as the player(s) proceed down the event's course. When the player then has to defeat the Rotatatron, the Orange Wisp will appear alongside several others Wisps and join up with the four characters to perform the Final Color Blaster, which deals the final blow on the Rotatatron.'
Team Sonic Racing
, the Orange Wisps appear as Team Sonic Racing Item Box power-ups on the game's race tracks. On a few occasions, the player is able to obtain and hold up to three Orange Wisps at once. In gameplay, the Orange Wisp power-ups allows the player to launch Orange Rocket-based projectiles.
comic tie-in, during one of the early races in Dodon Pa's Grand Prix, an orange Wisp was used by Tails as a part of a combined attack on Dr. Eggman, who had intruded on Team Sonic and Team Dark's race.
Being Wisps, the Orange Wisps are halcyon and social. Overall, they are peaceful, playful, non-hostile and friendly of nature, and enjoy spending most of their time playing with others. While they are not fighters, they are nonetheless brave and very helpful towards their friends and allies.
The Orange Wisps are a very emotional and sensitive breed of Wisps whose emotions can fluctuate rapidly; they are easily elated when they are praised, get depressed if they make a mistake, and very easily angered.
Powers and abilities
The Orange Wisps are able to levitate in midair at will, which serves as their main method of transportation.
The Orange Wisps are able to generate and store their own unique variant of a powerful energy known as
Hyper-go-on inside their own bodies, which is their life source. It is unclear to what extent they can use their own Hyper-go-on, though they have been shown being able to use it to revert Nega-Wisps back to normal, carry objects through levitation, teleport objects and restrain black holes made from Hyper-go-on.
The Orange Wisps are able to pass on a fraction of their Hyper-go by phasing into the recipient. When organic beings or robots receive their Hyper-go-on, they can transform into the
Orange Rocket which possesses jet propulsion abilities. Alternatively, the Orange Wisps are able to manifest the Orange Rocket form themselves without phasing into a recipient.

Sonic the Hedgehog #219
In the comics, some Orange Wisps and a few other Wisps were chased by
Orbot, Cubot and a pack of Egg Pawns, but one Orange Wisp was saved by Sonic. After Sonic destroyed the Egg Pawns in a flash and send Orbot and Cubot running, though with some Orange Wisps of their own. An Orange Wisp then joined Sonic, Tails, Yacker and some other Wisps, as Sonic ventured out to save the Wisp race from Eggman.
