The North Pole is a location that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie. It is a frozen area at the northernmost point of Planet Freedom's Land of the Sky.

Description[]

The North Pole is cold and icy due to its polar location. It forms an essential part of the vast glacier that holds all of the Land of the Sky's continents together and anchors them to Planet Freedom, and a large hollow bridge of clear ice acts as a conduit for one of Planet Freedom's vein-like subterranean magma rivers.

History[]

Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie[]

Sonic Vs. Metal Sonic!![]

For his latest scheme, Dr. Robotnik planned to use Hyper Metal Sonic to pierce a hole in the North Pole's ice and free the vast amounts of magma underneath, melting the glacier keeping the Land of the Sky tethered to the planet.

While Metal was successful in freeing much of the magma, Knuckles the Echidna used his burrowing skills to divert the flow into a canyon and away from the rest of the Land of the Sky. Meanwhile, Sonic the Hedgehog used the North Pole as the stage for his final battle with Metal.

When Sonic got Metal on the ropes, the President crashed his rocket into the North Pole's ice bridge, and Metal appeared once more to rescue the President and Old Man Owl from the explosion before getting knocked into a lava pit. There, he rejected Sonic's offer to save him and allowed himself to be consumed by the lava.
