Plot[]
At The Grim, Sonic becomes confused about how the Kraken, Yolkomotive and Mothership had made their way inside, before Nine delivers an explanation to him, saying that they located him and used his Prism Energy signature to breach the dome, with Nine stating that he would have done the same thing as Alpha Grim Sonic, Alpha Grim Amy, Alpha Grim Birdie, Alpha Grim Knuckles and Alpha Grim Rouge watch with fear in their eyes. As soon as Thorn and Birdie arrive, Sonic joins them, before being joined by the Resistance, the Scavengers and the Chaos Council, with Rebel and Red encouraging Sonic to team up with them. Nine ridicules Sonic's plan, but Sonic shows all of "his friends" to prove himself. Sonic tries to agree a deal with Nine - who claims that he's betrayed him - that Sonic should be given control of the Prism, and for him to join his team to save the Shatterverse; but Nine swiftly declines, thinking that he's making demands, and commands his Alphas to protect the Citadel, to Sonic's dismay. Nine powers up from the Paradox Energy Beam to grow his Citadel, with an outer wall created by protruding spikes. Sonic and his new allies fear for their safety during the dome's development. Nine uses the energy to make clones of his Alpha Grim Robots, with Dr. Deep protesting that "Robotic Sonics? The nerve, he stole our idea!", and Sonic sighing in disgrace and going for Nine, before Rebel restrains him. Sonic and his allies agree to battle the Grim Robots. Nine commences the attack.
During the battle, the Kraken and the Yolkomotive clash with one another, prompting an argument between Dr. Done-It and Black Rose. Dr. Don't almost hits Knucks with Eggforcer lasers, prompting another confrontation, before Knucks and Dr. Deep accidentally knock each other out, causing another disagreement and disappointing Sonic, with Nine also agreeing and delivering fight talk to Sonic, before noticing the two Shatter variants ofTails working together to his annoyance. Claiming that there's only one version of him, he demands the Grim Troopers to take them out, causing them to stop against Knucks' wishes. Sonic sees them going after Sails and Mangey - both busy building a weapon - and calls them to be aware. Sails throws the weapon towards the Grim Troopers. It explodes, with Mangey and Sails disappearing before Sonic - being blown back by the blast - can even get to them, to everyone else's despair and shock, including Nine for a brief moment, before he commands the Grim Troopers to recall.
The Rebels comfort and reassure Sonic, but are interrupted by Dr. Deep, claiming that the Chaos Council should control the Prism; Rebel and Knucks argue with him, while Sonic confronts Nine from the ground in fury. Rebel questions Sonic suspiciously, but Sonic believes that once he's in Nine's possession, it'll be the end of the world for everyone else, and the only way to win is to work together. He then asks Rebel, causing rival genius Dr. Deep to argue back at him, before being calmed down by Mr. Dr. Eggman. Afterwards, Sonic and his allies listen to Rebel's "three-pronged assault" plan; Dr. Deep disagrees with his role in the plan, before being told by Red to stick with the plan. Sonic, while unsure about his role, accepts the plan and commences it. Nine sees the allies moving again in disgust, before almost falling off the tower while the Citadel starts shaking, thanks to the Yolkomotive firing missiles towards it, with one of them hitting the Citadel, and Nine feeling the tower shake. The Mothership's laser beam destroys the Citadel's outer wall, annoying Nine enough to clone the Alpha Grim robots and demand them to start attacking once again.
During the next battle, Rusty uses one of the turrets in the Kraken to take out two Grim Birdies intended for Dr. Done-It's Yolkomotive. Meanwhile, Dr. Deep saves Knucks from a punching Grim Knuckles, before becoming offended by his robotic counterpart being the 'weakest of the lot', prompting Knucks to go after him. Also, the Scavengers battle against more Grim Robots, with Thorn and Birdie coming over to help. Having defeated the Grim robots, Prim demands that she, Hangry and Gnarly run to the Citadel, leaving Thorn to battle the Grim robots, with Sonic rushing over to help, luring them to Dr. Babble, and then to an Eggforcer. Knucks saves Sonic from a Grim Amy hammer attack. Sonic then sees the Pirates in trouble, alerting him to take these robots out. As soon as he stops, Catfish takes the hit from a Grim Sonic Spin Attack, blasting and taking him out cold. A despairing Sonic checks up on him, followed by Dread after taking out more robots. Once they ask Catfish is he's ok, he replies that he is, but he seemed to forget who he is.
Nine becomes annoyed again at them sacrificing themselves for Sonic, and thus initiates a new strategy. He extracts power from the Paradox Energy Beam, fluctuating the dome. Mr. Dr. Eggman notices this and communicates to Dr. Don't about his report of a surge of Prism Energy at the Citadel. The Paradox Prism shakes and fluctuates while Sonic and Dread help walk Catfish along, with Sonic blaming himself, but being reassured by Renegade Knucks that they're "doing all right out here". At full charge, Nine points the laser downwards to the ground, creating a vapor. He briefly faints before giving an evil smile, while the Scavengers make their way up the Citadel again. A giant robot rises from the vapor: Grim Big. While Dr. Babble is impressed, the others become intimidated by its appearance, along with Sonic becoming anguished. The Grim Big deploys one of its main weapons - a Froggy Bomb - with Sonic becoming distracted by its appearance until it targets and hits him.
Errors[]
- When the Chaos Council lands in The Grim, one of the Eggforcers is shown syncing with Dr. Don't, although the latter's goggles are not glowing orange as usual.
