Nightmare Eggman (ナイトメア・エッグマン Naitomea Eggman?) is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is the nightmare form of Dr. Eggman, in which he had accessed to the form via either taking control of the Reverie, Nightmare Fuel and/or just being in his Dreamscape during the Reverie incident.
Appearance[]
Nightmare Eggman looks very similar to the real Dr. Eggman with a few exceptions, those being his color scheme which is only composed of shades of purple and red, and his mustache which, apart from being significantly bigger and wider, is glowing, his cuffs ends are now triangular and his coattails are longer and his legs are slightly transparent.
In the trailer for the game, a different but similar transformation, only with numerous arms attached to his body, and the same color scheme as the real doctor.

Powers and abilities[]
Nightmare Eggman is able to duplicate itself while still keeping only one mind, with that power, he can be at multiple places at the same time.
He can also extend his limbs, as well as summon floating arms of varying sizes, fly, change size, summon enemies and mines, teleport, shoot lasers out of his fingers, create shockwaves with a simple punch, appear only as a head, a hand or an arm and is invincible.

Nightmare Eggman has no weaknesses, aside from Ariem.
Battle[]
Nightmare Eggman is the final boss of Ego City in Sonic Dream Team. It is fought with Sonic, Rouge, Knuckles, Cream, and Amy.
Boss guide[]
This boss battle is in the form of an obstacle course that must be completed while avoiding Eggman's attacks in order to save Ariem. Almost all characters are played as during the fight and each section is adapted to their character's playstyle. The boss is defeated by throwing Ariem into the dream core.
Trivia[]
- This is the first powered-up version of Dr. Eggman in the Sonic the Hedgehog video games. In the series overall, however, Nightmare Eggman is the fifth powered-up version of the doctor, the others being Super Eggman in Otherworld Comedy, Emerald Eggman in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film, Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Comic, and Supreme High Robotnik and Super Robotnik both from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series.
- Tails is the only character that doesn't fight Eggman, as he is busy with the Dream Core.
- This is the only Eggman boss that has only one hit point.
- This is the only Eggman boss that is not actually fought.
- This is the only boss of Sonic Dream Team that does not have a boss intro screen.
- Nightmare Eggman has some resemblances to the Prismatic Titan from Sonic Prime, in the fact that they are giant Eggman-based antagonists with glowing mustaches.
- The only animated part of Nightmare Eggman's model is his mustache.
- This is the third Sonic final boss in a row to be purple when only counting platformers, the predecessors are The End and the Black Dragon.
