New Yoke Tag Arena, sometimes shortened to either New Yoke Tag or New Yoke Arena, is an area that appears in Sonic Speed Simulator. It is an arena in New Yoke City made for Tag matches.

The area was added during the Sonic Prime Premiere Event, and removed following its conclusion. As such, it is currently inaccessible.

Description[]

New Yoke Tag Arena consists of two distinct parts, both of which lie close to each other, but on opposite sides of a chasm. Surrounding both areas are gray buildings and factories, against a crimson sky. The smaller section is a square area surrounded by dark metal fences, sporting the logo of the Chaos Council surrounded by a glowing ring (which changed between red and green coloration) in the middle, and a Giant Ring in the back leading to World Premiere. The area also has two lampposts located near the the top left and top right corners (when facing opposite the Giant Ring).

The larger section has a more circular shape, with multiple levels which can be accessed via Springs at the edges. At the center of this area is a raised circular platform with Chaos Council logos on its side, and multiple ramps leading up to it from the edges. Around this platform is a thin floating yellow beam, and even further outwards are four large pillars placed near each corner which support the upper structure. The upper structure itself is a gray curved beam which circles most of the map, passing through all four pillars. Even further out is another circular path which is lower than the upper structure, but is connected to other parts of the map via Grind Rails. The overall coloration of this section is dark gray with yellow stripes. Additionally, stacks of Crates with Springs on top of them are found around the map. Video monitors of Dr. Eggman can also be seen on some of the pillars.

Gameplay[]

Newyoketaglobby

Riders Knuckles in the "lobby" section of the map, from Sonic Speed Simulator.

The player can enter New Yoke Tag Arena from Giant Rings found in Green Hill or World Premiere. As with all Tag maps, entering this level will place the player in the smaller section, which serves as a lobby. The player can step in the circle (which will cause it to change from red to green) to join the game. Floating above the circle is a dialogue box showing how many players, out of the sixteen maximum, have currently joined the game. A timer is also be present which dictates how much time is left before the next game automatically starts. A minimum of two players are required to start the game.

Once the game starts, all joined players are teleported to the second area and divided into two teams, "Red" and "Blue". All members of one team will be assigned to be the "runners", and all members of the other will be assigned as the "taggers". As the game starts, two timers appear, one of which counts down from three minutes to mark the end of the game, and the other of which counts down from 1:30 to mark the roles of each team being swapped. The latter timer will reset after the swap, but due to the 3:00 time limit of the game, the second swap will be cancelled by the game end. The objective of the match is for the player's team to have the most points when the game ends. Said point values are displayed at the top of the screen.

As a runner, the player's goal is to simply avoid the taggers. Getting tagged by a tagger will cause the player to briefly view the player who tagged them, while waiting to respawn after a few seconds. Runners have no way of earning points, although avoiding the taggers will prevent the opposing team from gaining points. As a tagger, the player's goal is to locate and touch runners to "tag" them. For every runner tagged, the player's team gains 1 point.
