The Needlenose is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a mosquito-based Badnik variant created by Dr. Eggman.

History

Early actions

PalmtreeArchie

Three Needlenoses attacking Sonic, from Sonic the Hedgehog #290.

Dr. Eggman once employed the use of Needlenoses in Palmtree Panic on Little Planet.[1] A number of Needlenoses and other Badniks were later left behind on Isolated Island following a thwarted operation of Eggman's, and were modified by Dr. Ellidy to help him maintain and protect his property on the island.[2][3]

Spark of Life

After the local Lake of Rings produced a Red Star Ring, Ellidy had his Needlenoses monitor it.[4] When the evil computer virus Phage infiltrated Ellidy's systems, she took control of all the Badniks to aid in her attack. Several Needlenoses were charged with guarding the island's Lake of Rings, and tried to prevent Miles "Tails" Prower and Big the Cat from obtaining the Chaos Emerald that had landed in it. They then joined the Badniks and the Dark Gaia Creatures attacking the pair, but were later freed by Phage's defeat.[5][6]
