The Nasty Hyenas[1] are a group that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog television series. They are a gang of cannibalistic hyena bikers who travel around Mobius looking for people that they can name their king, only to eat them.

Past[]
The Nasty Hyenas were originally members of a cannibalistic tribe of Mobians who ate their kings. This cannibalistic tribe of Mobians, however, has an unknown country of origin on Mobius; in addition, very little is known about their culture or society beyond their cannibalism. On an average, they would eat 4.3 kings each month. However, they eventually became a splinter group and began traveling Mobius, continuing their cannibalistic ways.[1]
Season two[]

While roaming the Great Forest, the Nasty Hyenas would accost Antoine Depardieu upon encountering him. When Antoine tried to show off his limited martial arts skills, the Nasty Hyenas frightened him so badly that he accidentally knocked down their hover bikes. However, when Antoine said he was a master of "king-fu", the Nasty Hyenas seemingly mistook him for their king. Addressing him now as their "royalness", the Nasty Hyenas would worship Antoine in various ways. During the following evening, they would meet the Knothole Freedom Fighters, who wanted Antoine to come back home with them. However, Antoine refused, having grown accustom to his new life. The next day however, the Nasty Hyenas began to cook Antoine, only for the Knothole Freedom Fighters to interrupt them. The Nasty Hyenas members were subsequently defeated by Sonic, Dulcy, Sally, Bunnie, and even Antoine, allowing the heroes to return to Knothole Village.[1]
Uniform[]
The Nasty Hyenas' traditional uniforms all consists of multiple piercings, boots and black leather jackets/wests.
Vehicles[]
- Hover bikes: Each member of the Nasty Hyenas got around using advanced hover bikes reminiscent of motorcycles.[1]

Archie Comics[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Nasty Hyena Gangs were a group that terrorized Efrika until they united with the Bear Pack to form the Efrika Dark Egg Legion.
Trivia[]
- The male members are voiced by Jim Cummings, while the female's voice actor is Alaina Reed Hall.
- Jim Cummings also voiced Ed, one of the hyenas in The Lion King four months earlier. The hyenas in The Lion King also eat their king, Scar, though as an act of vengeance for betraying them.
