Mystic Ruins is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are the ancient remains of what was originally the homeland of the Knuckles Clan. The ruins consist of a large jungle in which a temple rests.

Description[]

History[]

Sonic Adventure[]

Sonic and his allies visited the Mystic Ruins numerous times during their respective adventures involving Chaos and the Egg Carrier. At one point, Sonic was guided into the ancient temple by the spirit of Tikal so that she could show him the mural depicting Perfect Chaos. Dr. Eggman also had a base near the jungle, where the Egg Carrier would be docked when not airborn. When Angel Island fell from the sky after the Master Emerald was shattered, it landed back into where it originally laid thousands of years prior as a part of the ruins landmass.[1]

Worlds Collide[]

Note: Due to the Genesis Wave, The Mystic Ruins history from this point were changed to be nearly identical to that of its game counterpart.

When Reality was rewritted by the Second Genesis Wave, Sonic and Tails were going to go on an adventure to the Mystic Ruins, only for Tails to be kidnapped and roboticized and cancelling their plans thanks to Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily.

Countdown to Chaos[]

Note: From the readers point of view, this picks up from where the Mystic Ruins original timeline ended.

Using Nicole's signal, Sonic and Tails tracked Rotor the Walrus to the Mystic Ruins jungle. The signal was weak, however, and they needed a better lead. Fortunately, the two encountered Big the Cat, who led them to the Sky Patrol. When they arrived, Rotor was attempting to fend off a horde of Spinners. The combined forces of the three Freedom Fighters was enough to keep the Badnik Hordes at bay, but Silver Sonic, the horde leader, arrived while all three of the defenders were busy. Silver Sonic aimed a Spin Dash at the Sky Patrol's unprotected side, but Big stopped the badnik commander in its tracks. After all the robots had been destroyed, Sonic and Tails restored Rotor's memories and set off to find Antoine and Chuck.[2]

One by one, Sonic and Tails found the missing Freedom Fighters, restored their memories, and made sure they made it to the Sky Patrol. After all the Freedom Fighters' memories had been restored, Nicole realized the gravity of the world's current situation, and the crew took off for Station Square as the Shattered World Crisis tore the Mystic Ruins apart.[3][4][5]
