The Moto-Bug resembles the
Badnik of the same name, sporting its design.

Omega launching a Moto-Bug.
In gameplay, Moto-Bugs can only be obtained at random from
Item Boxes by Classic Sonic, Elf Classic Sonic, Tails, Omega, Elite Agent Rouge and Zazz. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Moto-Bug if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned users.
When used, the player sends a
Moto Bug down the lane it was deployed on. When an opponent makes contact with this Moto Bug, it will damage them, paralyze them, and make them lose a random power-up in their possession. The Moto Bug will also disappear when it hits an obstacle or travels off course. Players also have a chance to find two Moto-Bugs in an Item Box instead of one if their level is at least 6, and three Moto-Bugs at level 12.
To avoid the Moto-Bug, the player must either jump over it or step to the side.
