The Morph Ball (モーフボール, Mōfu Bōru^?), also known as Chaos Blob,^{[citation needed]} is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a sphere of a mysterious substance which can activate Shadow the Hedgehog's Doom Morph, and can then be used to travel through the air.

Overview

In Shadow Generations, Morph Balls mainly appear in Chaos Island, the Open Zone in White Space, and the boss battles with Mephiles and Devil Doom. Shadow can only activate Doom Morph by touching a Morph Ball in any way. While normally blue, upon activating Doom Morph they turn purple and gain a swirling texture.

Using Doom Morph, Shadow can attach a tentacle to a Morph Ball by targeting it with a Homing Attack - pressing the button once launches him straight through it, while holding it allows him to swing from it and leap forwards. If the button is held and released while Shadow is swinging directly below the Morph Ball, he will instead launch directly upwards through it.
