Past[]

Ten years ago, Sonic the Hedgehog settled in Montana after leaving Mobius. However, following Longclaw's advice, he did not interact with anybody in the state, with the slight exception of Crazy Carl, although he did visit Green Hills often.

In the recent past, the Green Hills Sheriff, Tom Wachowski, applied to the San Francisco Police Department in hopes of doing more and making a real impact in peoples' lives in spite of the Wachowski family having a long history of policing Green Hills. Having anticipated Tom's success, Tom's wife Maddie, began searching for apartments to rent in San Francisco.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

In the present day, Tom received an invitation to join the SFPD. Soon after, Maddie flew to San Francisco with Ozzy to await Tom while he wrapped things up in Green Hills. Meanwhile, Sonic watched a junior league baseball game in Green Hills, which made him want to play baseball himself. However, his frustrations over having no one but himself to play with made him build up so much energy that he accidentally unleashed an electromagnetic pulse that caused a blackout across Montana and the Pacific Northwest. Later, Dr. Robotnik came to Montana to investigate the incident.

The next day, with the government on the hunt for him, Sonic fled to Tom's house to hide in his shed so he could go to the Mushroom Planet with the use of a Ring in peace. However, he was found by Tom, and the latter shot him with a tranquilizer dart. As he passed out, Sonic accidentally sent his remaining Rings to the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. After recovering, Sonic had an argument with Tom, though the two were forced to escape when Tom got on the homicidal Robotnik's bad side. Afterward, Sonic convinced Tom to take him to San Francisco so he could recover his Rings and escape Earth.

Days later, Tom and Maddie got sent back to Green Hills by Sonic with a Ring. Hours later, Sonic arrived in Green Hills himself through a Ring, with Robotnik right on his tail in his Eggpod. With Tom's help, Sonic managed to take down Robotnik and send him to the Mushroom Planet.

Sometime after, Sonic was allowed to live with the Wachowskis, while all information about him and Robotnik were erased. Commander Walters also came to Green Hills to make contact with Sonic on behalf of the US government but failed.

Meanwhile, Tails arrived at Montana while looking for Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

Following a catastrophic act of vigilantism in Seattle, Sonic returned to Green Hills in Montana. Soon after, Sonic went on a fishing trip with Tom on a local lake, where Tom confronted Sonic with his trip to Seattle and gave him a lesson in heroism and responsibility. Soon after, Tom and Maddie went on a vacation to Hawaii, thus leaving Sonic in charge of the house and Ozzy. As Sonic partied it up without them knowing, Tails came to Green Hills in search of Sonic. Later at night, Dr. Robotnik returned to Green Hills with Knuckles the Echidna. After Robotnik then had unveiled himself to Sonic, Sonic got into a fight with Knuckles. As Sonic got outmatched by Knuckles however, Robotnik learned of Knuckles' search for the "ultimate power." Immediately after, Tails arrived and saved Sonic, and the two ultimately got away from Knuckles. Afterwards, Robotnik contacted Agent Stone. Working now in the Mean Bean Coffee Café in Green Hills, Montana, Stone sent new equipment to Robotnik. After receiving his delivery and gearing up, Robotnik forged an alliance with Knuckles to help him find the ultimate power, the Master Emerald. In truth though, Robotnik's plan was to use Knuckles and get the Master Emerald for himself.

Finding refused at Wade's, Sonic and Tails' search for answers about Knuckles' quest for the Master Emerald, they discovered the whereabouts of a compass that could lead to the gem, prompting Sonic and Tails head to eastern Siberia to get the compass. In the meantime, Robotnik and Knuckles met up with Stone at the Mean Bean Coffee Café, which Stone turned into their secret command center. While there, they intercepted a text message between Sonic and Tom, which Robotnik used to pinpoint Sonic's location in Siberia, prompting Robotnik and Knuckles to head out in pursuit of Sonic while Stone remained behind.

The next day, Wade was patrolling Green Hills when he caught Stone reviewing new outfits for Robotnik on his computer, prompting Wade to apprehend him. As Wade tried interrogating Stone, Robotnik teleported into the café in a new form, where he freed Stone and forced Wade to take Stone's place, as their hostage. Meanwhile, G.U.N: soldiers would arrive in Green Hills and surround the Mean Bean Café. Confronting G.U.N.'s assembly, Robotnik used his new powers to built the Giant Eggman Robot from all of the machinery in vicinity. As the Giant Eggman Robot began trampling into Green Hills, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles arrived in Montana, each of them taking shots at the Giant Eggman Robot. After their best attacks failed, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles regrouped in Green Hills¨ main street and agreed to work together. As Robotnik then sent Badniks after them, the trio came up with a plan: if Sonic could get Robotnik's attention, Tails and Knuckles could sneak up on him and take the Master Emerald from him. Sonic thus lured Robotnik and his robot of Green Hills, with Tom and Maddie following him. Ultimately, the trio's plan worked, leaving the Master Emerald to be seized by Sonic, who in turn was saved from certain death by Tom and Maddie. However, as Sonic, Tom and Maddie got pinned down by Robotnik's robot, the Master Emerald broke and released the Chaos Emeralds. Before Robotnik could kill the trio though, Sonic used the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and defeat Robotnik. Afterwards, Sonic relinquished the Chaos Emeralds, which disappeared to parts unknown. With Knuckles having repaired the Master Emerald as well, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles formed a order to safeguard the gem. Sonic would then resume his lifestyle in Montana with his new friends by his side.

In the meantime, as G.U.N. reached for Dr. Robotnik in Montana without luck, the organization would stumble upon a lead to Project Shadow.

Sonic the Hedgehog: The Adventures of Sonic & Donut Lord[]

Some time ago, Sonic made himself an underground home in Montana, which he would call "Hedgehog Cave". However, due to Longclaw's instruction, Sonic was unable to interact with anybody, local or otherwise, which made him feel very lonely.[1]

One day, after avoiding detection by Tom at the local speed trap and spending some time in the Hedgehog Cave, Sonic would play a baseball game by himself at Green Hills' baseball field, only to accidentally cause a blackout across Green Hills with his powers.[1]

The next day, as Tom was talking with Wade on the phone while preparing to leave Green Hills for San Francisco, he found Sonic in hiding from a United States government truck while preparing to head to the Mushroom Planet using his Rings. As Tom took a look at the truck on behalf of Sonic, Tom met Dr. Robotnik, who revealed he was here to investigate the blackout. When Robotnik's Badniks detected Sonic however, Robotnik sent them after Sonic and to capture him so Robotnik could uncover the secret to Sonic's power. As Sonic and Tom ran into each other in the forest later on, Sonic wound up sending his Rings to San Francisco by accident when Badniks attacked them. After escaping the Badniks, upon hearing that Sonic needed his Rings back, Tom took him to San Francisco.[1]

Days later, Sonic sent Tom and Maddie through a Ring portal to Green Hills to keep them safe from Robotnik. Hours later, Sonic arrived in Green Hills too through a Ring portal, with Robotnik hot on his trail in his Eggpod. There, Sonic managed to unleash his full power, which he used to defeat Robotnik. Afterward, Tom and Maddie decided to remain in Green Hills. Soon after, the pair moved Sonic's things from his Hedgehog Cave into their attic, where they welcomed an overjoyed Sonic home.[1]

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: The Official Movie Pre-Quill[]

Now living in Green Hills with the Wachowski family, Sonic eventually got bored and thus began speeding around Green Hills to socialize from a distance while hoping for a change to prove that he had what it took to be a hero. Meanwhile, while out on a fishing trip out of town, Tom and Wade received an all-points bulletin about a bank robbery at the first bank in Walla Walla, Washington, prompting them to head there to provide assistance. Hearing about the same robbery on TV back home, Sonic headed there as well.[2]

Not long after, Agent Stone managed to obtain a Robotnik Control Glove and Robotnik's manifesto. With these tools at his disposal, Stone got himself a job at Karen's Coffee in Green Hills. From there, he began using Robotnik's methods and technology to rise through the ranks of the shop and ultimately take it for himself within a week, steadily disposing of all the employees who had crossed him or stood in his way, including its owner. Stone was then ready to move into phase two of Robotnik's manifesto.[3]

SDroneHome-Junkyard-Inside

Team Sonic and Unit in Green Hills Junkyard, from Sonic Drone Home.

While Team Sonic went out on an errand to return some library books from the Green Hills library, Sonic had his crew take a detour in order to investigate some strange noises in the Green Hills Junkyard. There, the team discovered Unit, a self-aware Badnik in the process of upgrading himself in order to conquer the world. Despite Sonic's attempt to make a plan of attack, Team Sonic ended up fighting Unit unprepared. However, Knuckles got ejected from the junkyard, leaving only Sonic and Tails to take on Unit. Though, Sonic and Tails did their best to fight back, Unit managed to corner them. However, by conversing with Unit, Sonic convinced the Badnik to pursue his own passion: poetry. As such, Unit would read out his poems for Sonic and Tails until Knuckles returned and smashed Unit's body. With Unit's core module still intact however, Tails convinced his team to adopt Unit, although both Sonic and Knuckles had reservations about this.
