Mongroun (モングラアン Monguraan?) is a character that appears in the Sonic X anime series. It is an ancient robot created by the Murasia civilization and the guardian of the underground continent of Murashia.

History[]

Anime[]

Past[]

Following Murasia's fall into the underground, the Mongroun ended up hidden among the lava tunnels where it remained disabled for an unprecedented amount of time.

Homebound Saga[]

In the present, several earthquakes from volcanic activity caused the Mongroun to reactivate[1] and it attacked Sonic and his allies as they fought Dr. Eggman in Murashia. Despite their efforts, Sonic, Knuckles, Rouge and the X-Tornado were unable to defeat the Mongroun. However, Sonic made it swallow a bomb, which detonated within the Mongroun and destroyed it.[2]

Powers and abilities[]

The Mongroun was an incredibly strong robot, so powerful that even the combined efforts from Sonic, Rouge and Knuckles could only slow it down at best.[2]

The Mogroun is incredibly durable, not receiving even a scratch from Rouge's Screw Kick, the X-Tornado's armaments or Sonic's Ring-enhanced Spin Attack and only got a dent from Knuckles' punches. Due to its size, it had high physical strength, capable of toppling buildings with a single strike and knock away Sonic while in a Spin Attack. It also possessed a powerful fire breath.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Mongroun is a reference to the fictional kaiju mecha Moguera from the Japanese film company Toho featured in the films "The Mysterians" and "Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla" with Mongroun resembling the Moguera from the Mysterians more.
