The Mogu[1] (モグ[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, mole-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
The Mogus are based on moles. They possess gray torsos with a thick ring around their necks, dome-shaped lavender heads, a drill for a nose each, lens-like red eyes, and two arms with orange hands and two yellow fingers.
Overview[]
In Sonic Advance, the Mogus appear as enmies. They are encountered in Secret Base Zone, Egg Rocket Zone, and Cosmic Angel Zone.
In gameplay, Mogus will periodically pop out of holes in the ground so the player will accidentally walk into them and take damage, as they are lacking any offensive capabilities. To defeat a Mogu, the player must hit it with any attack, such as the Spin Jump or Spin Dash while it is outside of their hole. Upon their destruction, they will release an Animal.

IDW Publishing[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by IDW Publishing, the Mogus were among the many Badniks that attended Orbot and Cubot's Winter Jam reality show.[3]
Trivia[]
- The Mogus bear a slight resemblance to the Burrobot from the original Sonic the Hedgehog and the Grounder from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
- Additionally, the Mogus have a very similar attack pattern to the Madmoles from Sonic & Knuckles, though unlike Madmoles, Mogus do not throw projectiles
- The Mogus' name is derived from "Mogura", which is the Japanese name for "mole".
