Mobosaurs[1] are creatures that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They were a race of lizard-like creatures, and the first species to emerge on Mobius following the Xorda Attack on Earth.

Description[]

Anatomy[]

Although the appearance of mobosaurs differs greatly between individuals of the race, most mobosaurs resemble Dinosaurs, or possess a saurian appearance.[1]

Characteristics and culture[]

While some mobosaurs appear to capable of intelligent thought, others appear to act similar to mobini. Although the specifics are unknown, a brutal balance was struck between the mobosaur race during the Saurian Age.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

Due to the large variation between mobosaurs, some possess wings which allow them to fly.[1]

History[]

Past[]

The mobosaurs were created as a side-effect of the Xorda's Gene Bombs, which broke down all life on Earth into its most basic components. After thousands of years, mobosaurs began to rise out of the primordial soup created, ushering the beginning of the Saurian Age. However, all the mobosaurs were soon eliminated by the Coming of the Chaos Emeralds, with the exception of three mobosaurs who learned to harness the powers of Chaos Emeralds, which allowed them to become the Ancient Walkers. The Ancient Walkers would use their newfound power to oversee and protect Mobius for thousands of years, in addition to tutoring Aurora and Enerjak, and cursing Mammoth Mogul's Chaos Emerald.[1][2][3][4]

First Robotnik War[]

When half of a Chaos Emerald landed on the Floating Island, and began burrowing towards the Chaos Chamber, the Ancient Walkers would assist Knuckles by appearing to him in a vision, and explaining the situation to him through pictures.[5]

The Ancient Walkers would later be summoned in Downunda's Great Crater by Athair, where they would explain the history of Mobius and the prophecy of the Great Harmony by speaking through Tails' body.[6][1]

Later still, Sonic would be confronted by the Ancient Walkers upon collecting his One Billionth Power Ring. The Ancient Walkers sent Sonic through several trials, and upon his success, allowed Sonic to ask them one question, which he accidentally squandered by asking if he was truly only allowed one question. The Ancient Walkers would subsequently send Sonic back to Mobius.[7]

The Ancient Walkers would again assist Knuckles during his quest to recover the Sword of Acorns. With the help of Athair, the Ancient Walkers sent a vision to Knuckles and Tails, explaining the path Knuckles would have to take.[8]

Fighting Master Mogul[]

The Ancient Walkers would later save Knuckles from being killed by Enerjak, in addition to assisting Super Sonic, Hyper Knuckles and Turbo Tails during the ensuring battle with Master Mogul.[9]

Second Robotnik War and extinction[]

Having been greatly wounded by Mammoth Mogul sometime prior, the Ancient Walkers were killed by a shockwave caused by A.D.A.M.'s opening of the Zone of Silence, rendering the mobosaur race completely extinct.[10]
