The Missile Ganigani[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, crab-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman, as well as a variant of the Crabmeat.

Appearance[]

Based on a Badnik which resembles a real life crab, the Missile Ganigani looks nearly identical to a Crabmeat, with the only differences being their orange color scheme and possessing longer claws compared to the normal Crabmeats seen during the Lost Hex incident.

Overview[]

The Missle Ganiganis appear exclusively in the Wii U and PC versions of Sonic Lost World, where they can be found in Frozen Factory Zone 2 and Lava Mountain Zone 3. The Missile Ganigani's attack pattern consists of them attempting to attack the player by shooting missiles at him from a distance. Like regular Crabmeats, the player has to use the Flying Kick to flip a Missile Ganigani over and make them vulnerable to an attack. Trying to attack them without kicking them first will cause the Missile Ganigani to counter attack the player instead.

Additionally, when Sonic turns himself into a large snowball in Frozen Factory Zone 2, the Missile Ganiganis will try to fire their missiles towards the player. These missiles are able to destroy the whole snowball and the player will automatically lose a life if they have not collected all the Rings sticking to the snowball at the previous Star Post.

Like with most other Badniks in the game, the Missile Ganigani releases an Animal upon destruction.

Powers and abilities[]

The Missile Ganigani are able to shoot homing missiles from their claws in order to damage their enemies. Like the regular Crabmeats during the Lost Hex incident, Missile Ganigani are also able to counter most attacks with a punch to help protect themselves from being destroyed.

Weaknesses[]

The Missile Ganigani is vulnerable to the Flying Kick attack, as it topples them over and makes them susceptible to getting destroyed by another attack.

In other media[]

Books and comics[]

Sonic the Hedgehog X Angry Birds[]

In the Angry Birds x Fearless: Year of Shadow promotional comic, the Missile Ganiganis were one of the many Badniks that appeared as part of Dr. Eggman's Badnik army during his invasion of the Angry Birds world. Despite this, the Missile Ganiganis and the rest of the Badnik army would be defeated by both the birds and Shadow working together to stop Eggman's evil schemes. Unlike in Sonic Lost World, the Missile Ganiganis' claws are much shorter, making them look the exact same as the claws of the regular Crabmeats.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the Missile Ganigani being a unique variant of the normal Crabmeats seen in Sonic Lost World, regular Crabmeats have also shown to have the ability to shoot missiles in games such as Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, and later on in Sonic Frontiers.
    • It is likely that the Missile Ganigani's attack pattern is a direct reference to the Crabmeat's attack patterns from these said games.
