The Mineral Museum[1] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It is an institution in Spiral Hill Village that cares for a collection of minerals. Its curator is Jewel the Beetle.[1]

Description

MMInterior

The interior of the Mineral Museum, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Tangle & Whisper #1.

The Mineral Museum is a two-story gray building with a blue-famed entrance and windows.

The insides of the Mineral Museum is an open hall with stairs leading up to a second floor on the sides. The hall features many shelves with several types of valuable minerals (including gems) put on display for the public to see. According to Whisper, its exhibition is beautiful.[1]

History

Past

The Mineral Museum was put together by Jewel the Beetle, with its exhibitions coming from the collection of minerals that she and Tangle had amassed over the years.[1]

Bonds of Friendship

TidyMuseum

Jewel, Tangle, Whisper, and the Wisps clean up the museum, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Annual 2019.

While at work in the Mineral Museum, Jewel received a surprise visit from Tangle, who was showing her new friend Whisper the Wolf around. After introductions were made, Tangle and Jewel told Whisper about themselves and about how the Mineral Museum came to be. Soon after though, the Babylon Rogues broke into the museum and began stealing all its valuable minerals. Just before the rogues made their retreat however, Storm mistook a cowering Jewel for a large gemstone and took her with him, prompting Tangle and Whisper to pursue the rogues. After Tangle and Whisper got both Jewel and the minerals back, the group and their Wisp friends put the museum back in order.[1]

Tangle & Whisper

Jewel was later working in the Mineral Museum, when she found Tangle recklessly swinging around in the streets of Spiral Hill Village. After Tangle had crashed into Ron's stand, she returned to the Mineral Museum with Jewel where they talked about Tangle's recent restless behavior and how to remedy it over some chili dogs. Soon though, the duo heard a crash from outside. Jewel immediately took cover behind her desk, worrying that the Babylon Rogues had returned. Tangle, however, told Jewel to hide while she checked the situation out.[2]

TangleandtheWisps

Tangle prepares for a new adventure, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Tangle & Whisper #1.

Tangle soon came back to the museum with Whisper, who was after a mercenary shapeshifter named Mimic. As it were, Mimic was impersonating Sonic the Hedgehog and was potentially targeting Tangle among others. Hearing this, Jewel told Tangle that she should join Whisper in hunting down Mimic to fill help her in her search for adventure. Whisper initially refused Tangle's help but was soon convinced by her Wisps to allow her to join her. Meanwhile, Mimic came to the museum to stick a note on the front door with a dagger. Whisper discovered it, and saw that the note said that she should face him once and for all.[3]

The Last Minute

Some time after Tangle and Whisper's encounter with Mimic, Spiral Hill Village was invaded by Dr. Eggman's Faceship and was subjected to the Metal Virus. Several of the villagers were transformed into Zombots, including Jewel in the Mineral Museum. When the Restoration came to the village to help with evacuation, Tangle came to the museum to check on Jewel; the Zombot beetle managed to get the jump on Tangle and struck her shoulder, infecting her. Despite this, Tangle still managed to trap Jewel inside a glass display. Sonic later came by the museum to help fend off Zombots destroying the interior and asked if he had any ideas on how to prevent the infected from following the Restoration to the Rescue Shuttle. Tangle suggested that Sonic carry her around several lampposts so that she could use her tail as a tripwire. Sonic was initially skeptical about this idea, but after Tangle revealed that she had already been infected and told the hedgehog to stop moping over current events, he opened up to it.[4]
