Metro City, also known as Metro City Zone, is an area that appears in Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. It was added to promote the third Sonic the Hedgehog film.

Description

Metro City is an urban region based on Tokyo from the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film. The area is a large and modern city set during clear nighttime with nothing visible other than a field of stars and a crescent moon. In the horizon, one can spot various tall buildings and skyscrapers in dark-colors and with cyan-glowing windows in them. The darkness of the city is lit up with streetlights and colorful signs. In the far distance, the iconic Tokyo Skytree can be spotted.

The racetrack itself is a four-lane asphalt road with white lane markings on its edges and in the middle and a pair of broken white lines on it, dividing the lanes further. Sometimes though, the racetracks transitions into orange pedestrian streets.

Trivia

• Metro City is the third area in Sonic Forces: Speed Battle to not be based on an existing level in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, with the first two being Golden Bay and Emerald City.
  • Along with Golden Bay, Emerald City, Sky Sanctuary, and Planet Wisp, Metro City is also one of the areas that did not originally appear in Sonic Forces.
  • It is also the fourth area in Sonic Forces: Speed Battle that does not feature music from Sonic Forces, rather utilizing the track played during Westopolis from Shadow the Hedgehog.
• Metro City is the only area to currently feature the Drone Badniks from the Sonic the Hedgehog film, appearing as stationary enemies throughout the tracks.
• Metro City shares its name with the main setting from the 2010 film Megamind, though this is likely a coincidence.
