There's nothing Excalibur can't cut through... including your rivals' lead!

— Description, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle

The Meteor Charge is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Boost Item used primarily to increase the user's speed.

Description[]

The Meteor Charge's icon takes the form of a golden circular emblem with gold rings surrounding it and a golden trail following it. In gameplay, this power-up becomes the user grabbing a hold of Excalibur and aiming it in front of them as they surround themselves in a golden aura that leaves a similar trail as they move forward.

Overview[]

In gameplay, the Meteor Charge can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Excalibur Sonic.

Once obtained, the player can utilize the Meteor Charge by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Meteor Charge will increase the speed of the user for a short amount of time. The duration of the Meteor Charge is shown by the decreasing gauge on top of this power-up's icon on the bottom of the HUD whenever the Meteor Charge is in effect. In addition, any rival character who makes contact with the user while the Meteor Charge is in effect will take damage, causing them to lose Rings, stop move for a while, and lose their randomly current item.

The Meteor Charge can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 2, 8 and 14 respectively. For level 2 and 14, the Meteor Charge will last longer. And for level 8, however, the Meteor Charge will deal more damage.

Trivia[]

  • The description for the Meteor Charge contains one of the quotes spoken by Excalibur during the battle with the Dark Queen in Sonic and the Black Knight.
    • Meteor Charge is also a reference to the final attack in the Dark Queen boss battle in Sonic and the Black Knight.
  • The Meteor Charge lends its sound effects to both the Psychic Surge and the Volt Bolt.
