Meteor Burst refers to the ability to make midair dashes using gravity. In order to perform the Meteor Burst, the user first must be in a state of flight while using Gravity Dive with an Ark of the Cosmos. While in flight, should the user makes contact with some debris that are suspended in midair as a result of the lack of gravity produced by the Gravity Dive, it will cause them to slide along the surface of the aforementioned debris. As the user then bounces off from the debris, they are propelled off of it at incredible speeds for a brief moment.
In gameplay, the Meteor Burst is one of the main move gimmicks in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. While the player is performing the Gravity Dive, they cause a number of different debris to appear along the race track, the form of which depends on the track. When the playable character then makes contact with this debris, they will trigger the Meteor Burst. When this happens, the playable character slows down for a split-second before shooting forward at high velocity with an extra burst of speed,[1] which can give the player a speed advantage over other racers. The debris on the different tracks that can trigger the Meteor Burst are as follows:
Notably, when performing the Meteor Burst, the playable character is rewarded with a small portion of Gravity Points. Also, when a Meteor Burst is activated, it will produce a Gravity Ring that rival characters can pass through in order to gain a similar burst of speed.[1]
