The Metarex Space Fortress.
The Metarex Space Fortress (メタレックス宇宙要塞[1] Metarekkusu uchū yōsai?) is a location that appears in the anime series Sonic X. It was a space station maintained by the Metarex resembling a large green orb. It possesses defenses that included a garrison of Metarex Pinchersheads and Metarex Pteranos.

Metarex Saga[]
The Metarex kept a number of valuable items here, including two captured Chaos Emeralds and a Planet Egg that they were attempting to mutate using the power of the jewels. The Metarex Space Fortress defenses proved formidable enough for the crews of the Crimson Egg and the Blue Typhoon to join forces to seize the Emeralds. However, Dr. Eggman quickly betrayed his "comrades" in hopes of obtaining the Emeralds, only for the unlikely allies to run into an army of Metarex Troopers.[2] A hologram of Metarex leader Dark Oak also appeared to confront the intruders, prior to the station being attacked by a fleet led by Red Pine's Battleship.[3]
The ensuing battle saw a confrontation between Super Sonic and Super Shadow and the jettison of the Planet Egg from the station. This resulted in the station collapsing in on itself, creating a gravity warp that destroyed Red Pine and his forces, scattered the assembled Chaos Emeralds, and would have proved the end of Eggman and Sonic the Hedgehog's teams had it not been for Sonic and Shadow.[3]
