"Metallic Madness" is the theme of the final round from Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Metallic Madness. The song and the round are recreated in Sonic Mania, featuring new remixed music and lyrics.
Lyrics[]
- They all dread this place we’re in
- Because of you, he's going through it
- Gotta get through; you know the deal
- But you're not through. He's going through it
- Get yourself ready for a fight
- This time he's superb
- Yo, we're outta here
- (You are dead are you)
- (You are dead)
- Yay!
- Yea-yea-yea-yea-hy!
- (Eh-hehehaha...) (Ooh-hoho...)
- (You are dead are you)
- (Eh-hehehaha...) (Ooh-hoho...) You can't do anything
- So don't even try it. Get some help
- Don't do what Sonic does (Eh-hehehaha...) (Ooh-hoho...)
- Yay! Yea-yea-yea-yea-hy!
- Sonic—dead or alive—is m-m-m-mine
- (Eh-hehehaha...) (Ooh-hoho...) You can't do anything
- So don't even try it. Get some help
- Don't do what Sonic does (Eh-hehehaha...) (Ooh-hoho...)
- Yay! Yea-yea-yea-yea-hy!
- Sonic—dead or alive—is m-m-m-mine
- (Eh-hehehaha...) (Ooh-hoho...)
- (You are dead are you)
- We don't try too hard to impress with our madness
- Roll out the door straight up for the dance floor
- I'm a blast, I'm a beast, I never fatigue, you're out of my league
- Don't you think you can beat the blue blur
- Check out my moves, check out my speed,
- I'm ever in need of a phat beat I can move my feet to
- I live in the fast lane, it's the game I play,
- I can't really say anything but ma-ma-ma-ma-madness
- I'm an evil doctor with a rad genius and bad minions
- To help me sink the planet into my dominion
- A baddie with an I.Q. like you've never seen
- I'm the meanest, vilest villain that's ever been on your screen
- I'm iconic, with my bionic animatronics
- Got a chronic knack to catch the hedgehog they call "Sonic"
- My temper is atomic! My mustache is on fire!
- Welcome to the new world, Eggman Empire!
Trivia[]
- Metallic Madness' music had appeared several other times, being referenced or remixed:
- In Sonic the Animation, "Metallic Madness" from the Japanese soundtrack is used for the scene in which a disguised Dr. Eggman wreaks havoc.
- "Metallic Madness" from the Japanese soundtrack is used as the theme for Metal Sonic's All-Star Move, the Maximum Overdrive, in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.
- "Metallic Madness" from the American soundtrack was remixed as the music for the Zoah Colony in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
- "Metallic Madness "P" mix" was used in the trailer for the 2013 remaster of the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
- The music for Act 2 of Chemical Plant Zone in Sonic Mania contains a sample of the music played in Metallic Madness from the Japanese version of Sonic the Hedgehog CD.
- In "Metallic Madness "B" mix" from the Japanese soundtrack, phrases like "Sonic, dead or alive, is m-m-mine," "You can't do anything, so don't even try it. Get some help," and "Don't do what Sonic does," can be heard in speech synthesis, which sounds like the "speech" synthesis program included in the operating systems of Amiga computers, which were commonly used to develop Sega Mega Drive games.
- "You can't do anything, so don't even try" is presumably a twisted version of the lyrics of "Sonic - You Can Do Anything," the theme for the intro of the Japanese version of the game.
- In Sonic Mania, Metallic Madness Zone Act 1 takes elements mostly from its original past version, while the music for Metallic Madness Zone Act 2 combines elements from the present and bad future version. The music also features the almost incomprehensible raps that were also featured in the original music from Sonic CD. The raps from "Metallic Madness Zone (Act 1)" are sung in Sonic's perspective, while the raps from "Metallic Madness Zone (Act 2)" are sung in Eggman's.
