Additionally, his feet are black with thin yellow stripes instead of red and white, and his chest is orange with a yellow outline.
History[]
Sonic Rivals 2[]
In Sonic Rivals 2, Metal Sonic 3.0 was created by Eggman Nega to awaken the Ifrit in Chaotic Inferno and raced Shadow, Metal Sonic, Silver, and Espio. However, he merely served as a decoy to distract Eggman Nega's enemies, allowing the doctor to awaken the Ifrit himself in the meantime.[2] When the protagonists reached the Ifrit, Metal Sonic 3.0 tried to stop them from destroying the Ifrit and attacked them. Once the Ifrit was defeated, Metal Sonic 3.0 was either destroyed or trapped in the Ifrit's dimension.

Trivia[]
Rejected Metal Sonic 3.0 action figure, circa 2010.
- Prior to June 2010, a Metal Sonic 3.0 articulated action figure was proposed by Jazwares as a simple repaint of the already existing 3.75 inch Metal Sonic action figure, similar to the Mecha Sonic proposal. This idea was ultimatley rejected by Sega.[3]
- In 2024, a 4" articulated action figure of Metal Sonic 3.0 with a Red Star Ring accessory was finally released by Jakks Pacific.
- Despite being another inspiration from the image and DNA of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, the two have never actually fought or met each other, making this one of the only Sonic copies that has never been faced by Sonic himself.
- In Sonic Rivals 2, Metal Sonic 3.0's name and picture are displayed the same as Metal Sonic's, since he is just a palette swap of Metal Sonic. This palette swap, labelled Mach3.0, can be obtained as an outfit for Metal Sonic by successfully copying every other rival's Signature Move.
- Metal Sonic 3.0's colors resemble Metal Sonic's "Leather" outfit from Sonic Rivals, but with the addition of a painted head. The "Leather" outfit can even be used for Metal Sonic in Sonic Rivals 2 by winning his trophy in Multiplayer, now under the name of "Mach2.0", seemingly indicating it is the mid-point between Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic 3.0.
- In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics, the original and first of the Metal Sonic Series nicknamed Shard the Metal Sonic, was rebuilt and given a new paint job that greatly resembles that of Metal Sonic 3.0.
