Metal Sonic is the first of the four bosses fought in Atomic Destroyer Zone Act 3 and the sixth boss of Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. He is fought shortly after beginning Atomic Destroyer Zone Act 3.
Near the start of Atomic Destroyer Zone Act 3, the player will find a Rocket Shoes or Hyper Heli-Tails power-up (depending on the player's character). Obtain this power-up and use them to start flying down a long corridor. After traveling for a few seconds however, Metal Sonic will appear behind the playable character and ambush them with his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack, knocking them to the ground. Upon landing, the battle will begin.
Metal Sonic's first form of attack patterns involve him flying back and forth across the screen, occasionally diving at the playable character to attack. When Metal Sonic moves into to attack the playable character this way, the player must jump up and hit him with a Spin Jump. For every four hits the player lands on Metal Sonic however, Metal Sonic will start flying along the floor using his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack. While Metal Sonic uses this attack, he will be invulnerable to harm. As such, the player must continually jump up and down to avoid Metal Sonic's assault until him stops sweeping the arena with this attack after doing it six times. After twelve hits, Metal will retreat after being critically damaged from the fight, allowing the player to proceed to a teleporter that will transfer them to a Marker. After that, the player faces the next boss fight.
