Metal City Skatepark is an urban city setting taking place at a high level, with an ordinary city being seen underneath the platforms, in a light blue, clean sky with a few, albeit large clouds. It is a futuristic city setting full of tall buildings and bright colors. This area is a skate park designed for primary use with Extreme Gear. The skate park has many white half pipes, quarter pipes, bowls, ramps, loops with yellow Grind Rails and red guard rails scattered throughout.
Gameplay[]
Legacy[]
Metal City Skatepark is an open and free-roaming level with no enemies to fight. It has many features one would expect a skate park to have. It also has Chaos Orbs, Rings and Power Orbs scattered around, the third one being a collectible required for the "Animal Rescue Event". In the middle of the stage is a large tower with a Grind Rail curving around it. Jumping on and using the Sky Rings on the rails as a boost, the player will be able to be taken all around the level before being dropped off near the "Jet's Bets Event".
Reborn[]
The world of Metal City Skatepark is nigh on identical to its appearance in the Legacy update, though instead of Power Orbs, Air capsules can be found and collected to unlock rewards.
During the "Wave Racing" update, half the world was locked off. At spawn, the player could find podiums for the "Wave racing Event" - to unlock Wave the Swallow, the "Freestyle Riders Event" - to unlock Riders Sonic and the "Metal City Event" - to unlock Jet the Hawk - among over various awards. On a podium, the Beginner gear could be found at a discounted price.
Currently, as of the "Stormy Feathers" update, the spawn is identical to before with the only change being that of Storm the Albatross' event "Stormy Feathers" replacing that of "Wave racing". during this update the other half of the world has been unlocked giving access to "Wave Racing"'s new location alongside the return of Riders Amy (known interally as a varaint of Riders Amy: Pro Riders Amy) and the "Animal Rescue" event. With this update Pocky Caspules can be found around the map which can be picked up with any mount (five maximum) and brought back to a drop off point by Riders Amy. Additionally, five letters spelling out "SONIC" can be found around the map to unlock the Skateboard mount.
The Spawn has also been adorned with a shop where the player can purchase a range of Extreme Gear within the game. It is unknown if the offerings will rotate.
The world also currently has a portal to both Green Hill and the Metal City Race to allow for ease when completing the racing rewards that can be exclusively be completed in Metal City's race during the "Metal City Event".
This World was a sort of hub world for all Extreme Gear related events. At spawn, one can find the "Freestyle Riders Event" and "Animal Rescue Event". Going straight forward takes the player to the "Metal City Event", and going to the back of the park will take the player to the "Jet's Bets Event".
Due to how one of the bowls near the entrance is isolated from everything else, going on the Grind Rail surrounding it on an Extreme Gear and spamming the Hoverboard Boost will cause the player to gain speed indefinitely for as long as they want.
In "Legacy", Froggy could be found on top of the tallest tower of Metal City Skatepark as an Easter Egg. When the world was re-added in "Reborn", both Froggy and Big the Cat were placed in the locked off section of the world where Big can be found fishing for Froggy like he does in Green Hill.
The music of Metal City Skatepark is that of the main menu theme of Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. This is despite the fact that Zero Gravity is the only Riders series game to not include a version of Metal City.
According to Nibroc Sarkaria, Metal City Skatepark was planned to include the Metal Scraps needed to unlock the Babylon Rogues. The decision was taken not to include these however due to the fact the world is full of too many other items (which assumedly would impact performance).[1]
